Alpha's Twins Chapter 50
My words hit the dinner table like a bomb, sucking all the air out of the room.
I'd had it. Absolutely had it. I turned to Adrian's parents, keeping my voice steady. "There's something you need to know about Lynda. She's not who she pretends to be."
For just a split second, Lynda's eyes went wide with shock. But she recovered fast, plastering on this pitying smile that made my skin crawl.
"W-What are you talking about? What did I ever do to you?"
I grabbed my phone from the table and let out a bitter laugh, unlocking it with my thumb.
While I scrolled through my messages looking for the text Lynda sent me after the party, Adrian's voice cut through the tension like ice.
"Lynda, what's she talking about? What did you do?"
I slowly looked up at him. He was staring straight at Lynda, and unless I was imagining things, that look seemed like some kind of warning.
Lynda clearly didn't appreciate his question.
"Adrian, you're actually going to believe *her* over me?"
Something shifted in Adrian's expression. His eyes moved to me. "Show me what you've got on her."
I went back to my phone.
"Got it!" I tapped on Lynda's message.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Lynda's hands clenched tight under the table. Since I was sitting right next to her, I was the only one who could see how freaked out she was.
I could practically smell her panic. Perfect time to blow her cover.
Adrian snatched my phone and stared at the screen, reading the message. He just kept staring.
"Ad-Adrian, please trust me," Lynda whimpered, tears starting to fall.
"What's going on?" Uncle Lucas demanded.
I told them everything - how Lynda had taken my private conversation with my foster dad and spread it all over social media to destroy my reputation.
Aunt Grace's jaw dropped. Uncle Lucas shot Lynda a look that could kill.
After staring at my phone for what felt like forever, Adrian finally looked at me.
"You done blaming her?"
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
He tossed my phone back across the table.
He glared at me. "I told you before - she hasn't done anything wrong. Why are you going after Lynda? Can't you just live your own life and deal with your own drama?"
As he ripped into me, all I could do was stare back at him.
It felt like I'd time-traveled back five years, with him lecturing me for supposedly bullying Lynda - something I'd never even done.
What was I thinking? Of course he wouldn't listen to anything against his precious girlfriend. He'd always choose her.
"Adrian, she just showed you the proof," Uncle Lucas said.
He shook his head. "Dad, that's not even Lynda's number. It just says it's from Lynda. But Lynda's innocent. She would never do something like that."
Aunt Grace frowned. "She could've sent it from someone else's phone."
Right on cue, Lynda burst into tears - playing for Adrian's sympathy.
"Natalia, I get that you're upset, but these accusations are completely unfounded. Why would I do that? And if I did, where would I even get those screenshots? Only you and your father had them. Are you saying your dad did it? What would he gain from that?"
Lynda twisted the whole thing around, making it look like I was just some jealous ex trying to tear her down.
Adrian's parents exchanged confused looks. They were caught in the middle - my evidence seemed solid, but Lynda's calm act and logical defense made them doubt everything.
The tension in the room was suffocating, and everyone was picking sides.
I was furious - at Lynda, at this whole mess, at myself.
I should've listened to my family and never come here. Should've known this would happen all over again.
"Stop crying. People are just jealous because you're with Alpha Adrian. Let them say whatever they want - they'll never be where you are." Adrian's words were aimed at Lynda, but everyone knew he meant them for me.
Then he just went back to eating like nothing had happened.
"Natalia, sweetheart, it's okay. There must be some misunderstanding. Don't listen to anyone. Let's just eat-"
I cut Aunt Grace off by standing up.
"I'm done."
Uncle Lucas shook his head. "But you haven't eaten anything."
I looked straight at Adrian, who couldn't care less.
"Sorry, Uncle. But I lost my appetite listening to someone's bullshit."
Adrian stopped chewing and looked up at me.
His stare was a challenge - say one more word and see what happens.
My wolf snarled inside me. She wasn't about to let me take this kind of humiliation lying down. But she also hated the cold way our mate was looking at us.
I gave him my most sarcastic smile.
"Alpha Adrian, nobody's targeting your sweetheart. So stop thinking I'm even one percent jealous of her. Because what she has now? I walked away from that five years ago. I don't want it back, so she can keep it all."
