Alpha's Twins Chapter 111

4 min 30.7K views

It had been two weeks since I got back from the Storm Forest Pack. I'd returned to work and was starting to feel hopeful again. One setback wasn't going to break me—I wasn't a quitter.

My brother had just made an announcement to all the packs that the Blue Blood Pack was open to forming alliances. Since every pack had met our requirements, we were inviting them to partner with us.

Word spread fast, and every head Alpha was suddenly interested in working with us.

According to Jason, he was handling everything since he was our head Alpha. This would be a meeting between all the head Alphas—strictly pack business, nothing to do with the company.

I had no idea what Jason was thinking. He didn't discuss it with me before making the announcement. When I asked him about it, he brushed me off, saying it wasn't company-related. His response caught me off guard.

I couldn't figure out why Jason suddenly wanted to form alliances. And even if he did, why not approach specific packs directly? Why announce it to everyone?

That afternoon, just as I was heading back to the pack house, the board of directors convinced me to join them at a club. It was one of the board members' birthday, so I couldn't really say no, even though clubs and parties weren't my thing.

When we got there, everyone gathered around my table, cheering. Damia sat down next to me.

They asked what I wanted to drink. I ordered a soft drink—I didn't want alcohol.

Their faces went awkward. They agreed and ordered soft drinks too.

"It's okay. You guys can drink."

"No way. We can't drink when our CEO isn't drinking. That would be disrespectful."

I felt bad that they couldn't drink because of me, so I sighed and ordered a drink.

They looked shocked when they heard me order alcohol.

"Miss Natalia, are you sure?" one of them asked.

"Yeah."

Damia turned to me. "Boss, you never drink."

"Don't worry about it. I'll just have a sip or two. I don't want to ruin someone's birthday."

She smiled. "Boss, you're so thoughtful."

The waiter brought our drinks. Everyone had switched from soft drinks to wine. We all raised our glasses for the birthday guy.

I took a sip. At first, my throat burned, but after a few more sips, the alcohol started to feel smoother.

"Isn't that Doctor Max Harrison?" someone said from the next table.

I looked where everyone was staring.

It was definitely Max Harrison!

"What's he doing in our pack?" one of my guys asked.

"I heard he came with the head Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack," another replied.

I looked at the speaker. "Mr. Hendrix, what did you just say?"

"He came here with his pack's Alpha. Their alliance period just ended."

I frowned. How did my directors know this when I didn't?

I realized I'd never asked Jason about that pack. Maybe that's why I was out of the loop.

"Boss, Beta Eric mentioned you really admire Doctor Max. Want to go talk to him?" Damia whispered.

I shook my head. "I see Eric's been telling you a lot about me."

Damia scratched her head with an awkward laugh. "Actually, I kind of pushed him to tell me stuff. I'm your personal secretary—I figured I should know about your likes and dislikes."

I smiled at her. "He's right. I do admire the man—his profession and skills. But let's not bother him." I glanced at Doctor Max again.

He was talking to a young woman while drinking, looking serious—almost like he was scolding her.

Was he having a fling and now telling her off? All kinds of thoughts ran through my head. Must be the alcohol.

Doctor Max was a gentleman. No scandals. I'd talked to him at the council party—he was really humble.

Suddenly, he caught me looking, which made me embarrassed. I quickly looked away and focused on my table.

To calm myself down after being caught staring, I downed my entire drink. He probably thought I was being rude.

The board members cheered when they saw me drinking. Someone poured me another glass.

Damia tried to push it away, but I grabbed it.

"I can handle another one."

I chugged the whole thing, which shocked them. They nearly applauded. I don't know what got into me. I had another glass after that.

"Miss Natalia, we heard you studied medicine before joining the company. Is that right?"

"Mmhmm."

"So you wanted to be a doctor?"

"I wanted to save lives just like Doctor Ma—"

"Miss Natalia Hansley?"

A voice cut me off.

Everyone turned to see a man standing next to my chair.

I looked up at him.

"Doctor Max?" I said, blinking to clear my vision.

After a few blinks, his face came into focus.

"Hi," he said, reaching out his hand.

I placed my hand in his, and he held it gently.

"Hello," I mumbled.

He chuckled when he realized I was a little drunk.

"What a coincidence! We meet again."
