Alpha's Twins Chapter 194
Lynda's confession completely threw me off guard. She'd always told me she had no memory of what happened that night, so hearing her suddenly remember everything caught me totally off guard.
"Adrian, what's she talking about? Is she the girl who saved you all those years ago?" Mom asked, her voice shaking. I could see tears starting to form in her eyes.
As a mother, she was clearly overwhelmed with gratitude toward whoever had saved her child's life.
Lynda stepped back from our embrace and looked directly at me. "Adrian, I remember everything about that night."
"What do you remember?" I asked, my mind immediately going back to that terrible evening.
She took another step back, like the memories were flooding back all at once. She looked away from me and dropped her head before speaking.
"I was just a kid back then. I saved you, and then..."
She stopped mid-sentence, leaving me hanging.
"Then what?" Patrick, who was standing right beside me, pressed her.
Lynda took a shaky breath and lifted her head. When her tear-filled eyes met mine, my heart clenched.
"Those men attacked me and broke my bones. I... I was in the hospital for a whole month recovering."
My eyebrows shot up in shock.
She was hospitalized!
Those bastards broke her bones! All because she helped me?
Rage exploded in my chest. I could still picture how she'd helped me escape from those men. They'd burned her hand, but she never stopped trying to save me. She was so brave, standing there like a shield between me and danger.
The guilt was eating me alive.
That's when Dad spoke up.
"Maybe we should look into what she's saying."
I turned to look at him where he sat on the couch.
"Dad, she's not lying. I've known it from the beginning."
His eyes widened. "Was that why you chose—"
"Dad, this isn't the time."
He looked away and nodded. "Still, we need to investigate this properly."
Lynda walked over and took my hand. "I'm telling the truth. You recognized me, Adrian."
I gave her a reassuring nod.
But Patrick chimed in from beside me.
"He believes you. But since Alpha Lucas wants proof—"
Lynda looked stunned. "Proof? How am I supposed to prove it? Isn't this scar enough evidence?"
She pointed to the burn scar on her right hand.
"Anyone could have a scar like that," Dad said bluntly.
"Dad!"
My voice came out as a sharp warning. I wasn't about to let Lynda be humiliated like this.
"Call our pack doctor and ask if anyone named Lynda was admitted to the pack hospital that night. If there was, get us all her medical records."
I glanced at her scar and realized Dad had a point about scars being easy to fake. Suddenly, Natalia's scar flashed through my mind, and I squeezed my eyes shut.
That woman just wouldn't leave my head alone. Even in a moment like this, I couldn't stop thinking about her.
"If your father wants..." Mom started to say, but stopped when she saw my stern expression.
Patrick put his hand on my shoulder. "Adrian."
I sighed and turned toward him.
I looked at Lynda's confused expression and answered Patrick.
"Call Doctor Harold."
