Alpha's Twins Chapter 168
My mouth dropped open in shock. How could Adrian even think something like that? Not only was he a complete bastard, but he was also the most disgusting man I'd ever met.
What did he think I was? Some kind of slut who went around hooking up with random guys?
I wanted to scream at him, but I clenched my fists and held it together.
"You've got this all wrong, Alpha," I said flatly, staring him down.
His eyes were full of contempt – the same look I'd seen from him before.
He let out a bitter laugh. "Do I really need to ask? You're the kind of woman who'll do whatever it takes to get what she wants. You drugged me that night and slept with me. Then the next day, you played innocent and forced my father to make me marry you. Planning to pull the same crap with Dr. Max?"
He was spouting complete nonsense. "I'm not listening to this. Just leave us alone. You can go now."
I turned to walk away with Max, but Adrian grabbed my arm and yanked me back. The sudden pull threw off my balance, and I had to lean against him to keep both Max and myself from falling.
"I won't let you destroy his life the way you destroyed mine."
His raised voice and the way we were positioned snapped Max out of his daze.
He shook his head and tried to stand up straight, frowning at Adrian before looking at me.
*Is he going to pretend he didn't ask for my help?* I wondered, silently praying I wouldn't look like an idiot.
"Alpha Adrian? What are you doing here?" Max asked groggily.
I quickly stepped away from Adrian now that Max was standing on his own.
"Dr. Max, you've been drugged."
I had no idea why this guy kept insisting Max was drugged when he was obviously just drunk.
"No, I'm just drunk. Don't worry about it."
Max took a step back, but he was still unsteady. I rushed to catch him again. Adrian shot me a dirty look when he saw that.
"Don't trust her," he told Max.
Max blinked several times and rubbed his forehead.
"She's with me. You don't need to worry."
Adrian's eyebrows shot up at that response. He turned his attention back to me, but I was focused on Max.
I could see him struggling to get his head clear.
I wondered what had really happened to him. Had someone actually drugged him? Who would want to hurt such a gentle guy?
"Alpha Adrian, I'll catch up with you later. I'm just heading back to the hotel. She's going to help me."
After saying that, Max put his hand on my shoulder, silently letting me know he still needed my support.
I smiled and nodded. Just as we started walking, Adrian called out.
"Get in my car. I'll give you a ride to the hotel."
