Alpha's Twins Chapter 190
I frowned at her. "What did you just say?"
She glanced at me briefly, then kept talking to Max like I wasn't even there.
"It's okay. Take your time. I'll be here whenever you get here."
The way she completely ignored me made my blood boil. I glared at her, but she just kept looking right at me while she talked to him.
"Bye, Max."
She hung up and slipped her phone back into her purse, then looked at me like nothing happened.
"What?" she said, all innocent.
"What were you telling him?"
"To come pick me up."
I grabbed her arm. "Did I take time off work for you just so you could run around with some other guy?"
She looked shocked for a second, then pulled herself together. "Why did you take time off? Did I ask you to?"
"I don't care. You can't waste your time on someone else."
"What? Are you insane?"
She jerked her arm away and stepped back from me.
I hated seeing her pull away like that.
"You never change, Adrian Miller. Just a few minutes ago you apologized, and now—"
"Now what? Saying sorry doesn't mean you get to run around with other guys in my territory."
Her eyes went wide. "What did you say? Other guys?"
"What's your deal with Max Harrison? How do you even know him?"
I had no clue what I was saying, but I couldn't let her leave. Not now.
"That's none of your business. Did you forget what you told my dad after the war?"
That threw me off. "What did I tell him?"
"That you were setting me free. That you'd never come after me again. So now's your chance to prove you're a man of your word. Let me live my life, and you live yours. I won't mess with your life, and you can take care of my kids."
My blood was boiling. Why was she talking like this was some kind of goodbye?
I cursed myself for saying all that stuff to her father when I was pissed off. I never thought it would come back to bite me like this.
While we were going back and forth, an expensive car came speeding toward us and stopped right next to Natalia.
A guy in a suit got out. He had this calm, quiet vibe—the kind of guy who seemed like he kept to himself.
Natalia's whole face lit up when she saw him.
I stared at the guy with pure rage and muttered under my breath, "Max Harrison."
Max looked over at me and nodded hello.
He didn't bow because he wasn't part of my pack. He walked over and stuck out his hand.
"Alpha Adrian. Good to see you again."
