Alpha's Twins Chapter 283

Natalia spun around and saw her father standing there. The look on his face made it clear he wasn't thrilled to find Adrian in their living room.

She jerked her hand away from Adrian and took a quick step back.

"Dad," she mumbled.

Alpha Martin walked over and gave Adrian a once-over before lowering his head.

"All hail to the head Alpha," he said with a bow.

Natalia's hands balled into fists, crumpling her dress. She'd never seen her father bow to another Alpha before. Not once.

Back when his son was still alive, Martin had been head Alpha himself for years. When his son eventually took over, there was no need for the formal bowing—respect between family was different.

But now? Now he had no choice but to bow his head to Adrian.

All those old wounds came rushing back, reminding her exactly why she hated this man.

"You can rise," Adrian said, his eyes flicking to Natalia.

Alpha Martin straightened up. "Is there something we can help you with, Alpha?"

His tone was flat but professional. He hadn't forgotten how to address a head Alpha, even if he couldn't forget how this same man had ignored his desperate pleas to leave his daughter and grandchildren alone.

"I wanted to speak with your daughter. But..." Adrian paused, letting out a sigh. "Alpha Martin, I think you and I should talk first."

Natalia's brow furrowed. What could he possibly want to discuss with her father?

Was he planning to issue some new threat?

Just then, her mother Jade Hansley appeared in the doorway again. She'd been resting in her room, but worry for her daughter had gotten the better of her.

"Natalia, what's going on?" Jade asked.

Natalia shook her head quickly, trying to signal that everything was fine.

Alpha Martin nodded at Adrian and gestured toward the hallway.

"Of course. We can use the study."

Natalia shot her father a sharp look, shaking her head. Don't go with him, she tried to communicate silently.

She didn't trust Adrian for a second.

But Alpha Martin couldn't ignore a direct request from the head Alpha, no matter what his daughter wanted.

He led Adrian down the hall to the study and motioned toward the leather couches.

Adrian glanced around the room, taking in the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves lining the walls. Instead of sitting down, he wandered over to examine the books more closely.

He was looking for any journals or diaries Natalia might have written. Since she'd always been a writer, he was curious about how she'd spent these years without him.

"Why are you here, Alpha?" Alpha Martin cut straight to the point.

"Do you keep a diary, Alpha Martin?"

Martin blinked, caught off guard. "A diary? No."

Adrian turned around with a slight shrug.

"Too bad. You should write about your daily life. Helps you remember things if you ever start to forget."

"Alpha, please tell me what you want to discuss."

Adrian didn't waste any more time dancing around the subject. He looked Martin straight in the eye.

"I love your daughter, Alpha Martin."
