Alpha's Twins Chapter 239
Natalia's POV
It had been two days since I'd last seen Max. Two whole days of going back and forth, weighing my options. I couldn't keep putting this off anymore—I had to make a decision today.
I'd been turning it over in my mind constantly. Even Eric's suggestion kept popping up in my thoughts.
The truth was, I needed to move forward with my life. How long could I keep living like this—like a woman with no one to turn to?
Max wasn't wrong when he'd asked me for a chance. Sure, the way he'd gone about it wasn't great, but his feelings for me were crystal clear.
It was noon, and I was working my shift at Moon Lovers Coffee Shop.
"You heading out somewhere?" one of the waitresses asked me.
It was lunch break, so we'd flipped the 'closed' sign and everyone was sitting around the tables eating.
"Yeah, I need to catch up with a friend," I told her.
Laiana hadn't come in today—she was visiting family and wouldn't be back for a week. Before she left, she'd put me in charge and told me to keep an eye on everything.
I was flattered that she trusted me so much, but man, the responsibility was overwhelming. I had to supervise the waitstaff and make sure customers were happy with their orders all at the same time.
And I couldn't forget about Alpha Adrian's daily coffee order. Every single day, I had to prepare his special blend and have it delivered to his company.
"Are you going to see the Alpha?"
I froze when another waitress spoke up. I turned to her with a frown.
"What makes you think that?"
She shook her head quickly. "Oh no, don't get me wrong! I just thought that since you mentioned he was an old friend the other day. You're so lucky that our head Alpha is your friend."
I ignored her comment and grabbed my things from my locker before heading out. I'd been hearing the female customers gush about Adrian constantly lately. It was like watching teenage girls obsess over some older celebrity.
Sure, Adrian wasn't exactly old—he was in his late twenties—but he was definitely older than most of these girls. And no matter what rumors swirled around him, they never seemed to lose interest.
It had only taken him two days to silence everyone who'd been calling him a cheater. Or maybe it was more accurate to say that no one dared speak against him anymore.
I flagged down a cab and headed to Max's hotel.
When I arrived, I was shocked to see Max standing outside.
He was leaning against a car while some guys loaded bags into the trunk.
"Stop here," I told the driver.
I quickly paid the fare and rushed out of the cab.
Max spotted me and pulled off his sunglasses.
"Natalia?"
I walked over to him, taking in his surprised expression. He clearly hadn't expected to see me again.
"Where are you going?" I asked, glancing at the packed trunk.
He leaned back against the car. "Like I told you, I'm leaving today."
My hands clenched into fists. I'd come here to stop him, but he was already on his way out.
"But what about my brother?" I pressed.
He shook his head. "I'm sorry. I can't help you with that. You know what I told you—to me, Alpha Jason is just another patient. But if you want to—"
"I accept your condition," I cut him off.
