Alpha's Twins Chapter 53

5 min 30.7K views

A sleek black sedan pulled up in front of an elegant villa, its engine purring to a stop.

The driver stepped out and opened the rear door with practiced efficiency.

"Miss Lynda, we're here," he announced.

Lynda remained seated in the back, turning toward the man beside her who was smoking while staring out the window with distant eyes.

"Adrian, aren't you going to help me out?" she asked, her voice carrying a pleading undertone.

"Your hand's hurt, not your legs," Adrian replied curtly, not bothering to look at her.

Lynda flinched at his cold tone. Five years ago, Adrian had bought her this house, yet he'd never once stepped foot inside. Most people would find that strange, but it was just their reality.

When she placed her uninjured hand on his thigh, he stopped mid-drag on his cigarette.

He moved to push her hand away, but his gaze caught sight of her bandaged right hand.

Slowly, he removed her hand from his leg and looked toward his driver.

"Help her inside."

Lynda's face twisted with displeasure. "I'm hoping you'll do something about Natalia. How could she hurt me this badly?"

Adrian took another drag and murmured, "Yeah. I need to deal with her."

Satisfied with his response, Lynda stepped out of the car. When the driver moved to assist her, she waved him off with her good hand.

"Should I wait to see if she needs anything else, Alpha?" the driver asked, glancing back at Adrian.

"No," Adrian muttered.

The driver slid back into the car and started the engine.

"Where to, Alpha?"

Adrian's eyes were fixed on the night sky, studying the moon above.

He exhaled smoke slowly before answering, "The pack house."

The driver was puzzled by this. Even though Adrian's father was ill, he typically only visited the pack house for a few hours at a time. He never stayed overnight.

So why now? He hadn't even gone back to his apartment last night either.

The driver shrugged and turned the car toward the pack house.

Meanwhile, Adrian seemed lost in thought, his expression unreadable.

By the time they reached the pack house, it was well past midnight.

Adrian didn't get out immediately. He sat in the car, smoking and thinking.

All day, he'd been replaying Natalia's behavior. She was nothing like the Natalia he'd known before.

Today, he'd seen a completely different side of her.

Her attitude had infuriated him. He knew exactly what she'd said to Lynda earlier. At dinner, it felt like she was making baseless accusations against Lynda.

After finishing several cigarettes, he finally stepped out of the car and headed inside the pack house. Everyone had already retired to their rooms. Only a few maids were still moving about, finishing their cleaning duties.

They all bowed as soon as they saw him enter.

He climbed the stairs, anger burning inside him. Natalia's behavior today made him want to confront her.

He stopped outside her bedroom door. He raised his hand to knock, but it froze mid-air. Instead of knocking, he clenched his fist and stood there silently.

He took a deep breath and briefly closed his eyes.

His wolf was holding him back. His wolf didn't want him to be harsh with their mate.

"Stop interfering," Adrian told his wolf and stepped back from the door.

He turned toward his own room and walked to the door. He opened it and slammed it shut behind him.

His mind was all over the place. That woman was causing all of this!

The next morning, Adrian woke up to his phone ringing. Glancing at the screen, he saw it was Beta Patrick calling.

"What?" he answered.

"Why so grumpy, Alpha Adrian?"

"You woke me up."

Patrick chuckled. "We have a pack meeting today. Did you forget?"

Adrian sat up, running his hand through his hair. "Can't I cancel it?"

"Adrian, you've canceled every meeting for the past two days. Don't you think you should keep your personal life separate from business?"

Adrian got out of bed while talking to his best friend. He opened his closet and pulled out a suit.

"I'm coming," he told Patrick before ending the call.

After showering, he got ready for the pack meeting.

As soon as he stepped out of his room, his gaze automatically went to Natalia's door.

He decided to attend the meeting first, then talk to Natalia. So he walked past her room.

But he stopped when he heard a phone ringing.

He stood there for a moment. Surprisingly, no one answered.

He looked toward her door and moved to knock. Then he shook his head and grabbed the doorknob instead.

He opened the door and entered the room.

Natalia wasn't there. He could hear water running from the bathroom. She was obviously in the shower.

His attention was drawn to the ringing phone on the nightstand.

He walked over and looked at the screen.

"William?"

He picked up the phone, glancing toward the bathroom with a frown.

"How many guys are you talking to?" he muttered and answered the call.

"Hello?" he said in his usual cold tone.

A young boy's voice came through, making Adrian raise an eyebrow.

"Who are you?"

When Adrian realized it was the rude kid he'd met at the airport, he couldn't help but smirk.

"Little boy, we met at the airport."

The boy's tone immediately shifted after recognizing him.

"Why are you with my mommy? Stay away from her."
