Alpha's Twins Chapter 292
Adrian glanced down at the woman in his arms. He carried her to his car and gently placed her in the passenger seat.
After buckling her seatbelt, he pressed the back of his hand against her forehead to check her temperature.
She was burning up.
He straightened and closed the door, his eyes lingering on her face for a moment longer.
Rain dripped from his dark hair as he jogged around to the driver's side.
He slid behind the wheel and started the engine, stealing another glance at her.
The car fell into silence—the woman beside him unconscious, while he drove in the opposite direction from her house.
His phone's ringtone cut through the quiet, making Adrian's jaw tighten.
He saw Theta Emon's name on the screen and answered.
"What?"
"Alpha, we're at the club waiting for the meeting. Where are you?"
Adrian's gaze flicked to Natalia, then back to the road ahead.
"I'm not coming."
"What do you mean you're not coming, Alpha?"
The phone was apparently grabbed from Theta Emon as Beta Patric's voice came through.
"You said you'd be here in thirty minutes. What the hell happened? This is a pack meeting, Adrian."
Adrian couldn't care less about any pack meeting. Not when he finally had the woman he'd wanted for so long right here beside him.
"She's sick. I can't leave her like this," he said quietly.
Confused murmurs echoed through the phone—Patric must have put it on speaker.
"Who?"
Adrian took a deep breath and said her name, his voice rough.
"Natalia."
"What? What's she doing with you? Alpha, just drop her off at home and get over here. We can wait another hour."
Adrian's hands tightened on the steering wheel when they still didn't get it. "I'm not coming tonight. Cancel the meeting."
He hung up and turned off his phone.
It was hard to focus on driving when Natalia sat there beside him, soaked from the rain.
He kept stealing glances at her.
She'd been consuming his thoughts for months now.
Even when he stayed away, she was always right there in his mind. He'd never approached her, never let her get too close. He'd loved her from a distance.
Wasn't protecting someone you loved from afar still love?
He drove for what felt like forever until the car finally stopped in front of a familiar estate.
He parked and got out, then opened Natalia's door and carefully lifted her into his arms.
Cradling her against his chest, he walked toward the front entrance.
The security guards immediately opened the doors, their eyes darting nervously to Natalia.
As soon as he stepped inside, Amanda rushed over, her face full of shock.
"Alpha, Luna's back!"
