Natalia glared at the guy who kept blocking her path to the elevator. Her fists clenched so tight that her nails dug into her palms, drawing blood as they broke through the skin.

She shoved the man aside. He stumbled back, completely shocked by her strength. How the hell could a woman be that strong?

"Miss, please don't—"

She heard him trail off and figured he'd finally given up trying to stop her.

The elevator doors slid open. She relaxed her fists and stepped inside, but before she could even turn around, someone grabbed her wrist and started yanking her back out.

She whipped her head around to see who it was, and her eyes went wide.

"Adrian Miller, let go of my hand," she snapped.

Every employee in the area stared at her like she'd just committed murder. Nobody ever called their head Alpha by his first name. Hell, she didn't even use his title—that was basically career suicide around here.

Adrian ignored her completely and dragged her toward his office.

She fought against his grip with everything she had, even tapping into her wolf's strength. But then something weird happened—her wolf just... stopped helping. It hit her like a punch to the gut. Her wolf wouldn't fight against their mate, no matter what.

Adrian hauled her into his office and slammed the door shut.

The second that door closed, Natalia let out a low growl.

Adrian just leaned back against the door, staring at her like her growl was background noise. That pissed her off even more.

"After humiliating me in front of all those Alphas, are you happy now?" she demanded.

"What were you doing in the meeting room?" His voice was calm, almost casual.

This wasn't the same aggressive bastard who'd just threatened to steal packs from powerful Alphas in that boardroom.

Natalia stared at his relaxed face. The audacity of this guy to stay cool after insulting her like that.

"I was cutting you slack because you're the father of my kids. Seems like you think I'm some kind of pushover," she muttered under her breath.

When Adrian didn't bother responding, she decided she was done with this conversation. She wasn't about to make a scene in the company building.

She took a step toward the door. "Move."

He crossed his arms. "I had no idea you were going to show up in that meeting room with coffee. I thought you were a CEO who understood basic protocol."

That made her spin around to face him. Her eyes flashed blue with rage.

Didn't he plan this whole thing? Now he was acting like it was her fault?

All the patience she'd been forcing herself to show him these past few days just evaporated.

She completely lost it.

Her claws shot out, and she grabbed his throat with them.

"Screw all this bullshit, Adrian. I'm going to kill you today."
