When Adrian's fighters told him about some big alpha joining the fight, he spun around to see who could possibly have his wolves so spooked.

But the second his eyes landed on the wolf standing across the battlefield, his whole body went rigid.

"Adrian, I'm heading your way. Got our main fighters moving toward the pack house like you wanted," came Patric's voice through the mind link. But Adrian couldn't look away from that black wolf. Those eyes had always seemed mysterious in his dreams, but now... now they looked familiar.

"Who are you?" he called out.

"Your death," came the reply.

Adrian's blood ran cold. He knew that voice. He *knew* it, but couldn't wrap his head around what he was hearing.

He'd always thought it was a male wolf, but this was clearly a female alpha. And not just any female alpha—this was Natalia. His ex-wife.

Pure rage twisted her features as she charged straight at him.

His fighters tried to intercept her, but Adrian could see just how powerful she'd become. Just like in his dreams, those blue eyes blazed as she tossed his wolves aside like they were nothing, cutting a path straight to him.

When Natalia got close enough, her growl sent every wolf around her trembling—everyone except Adrian.

She frowned, then recognized Beta Patric.

Before she could react, another wolf jumped her—a gray one with razor-sharp teeth.

Natalia remembered how fiercely loyal he was to his Alpha. She glared at him.

"I'm here to kill your Alpha. Walk away now, and I'll let you all live."

Gamma Benjamin snarled back. "You traitorous bitch! You want to kill my Alpha? You'll have to go through all four of his officers first."

"Fine by me, Gamma."

Natalia lunged at him, sinking her teeth into his neck. But before she could bite down hard, Adrian yanked his gamma away from her.

Natalia fixed her glare on Adrian and growled. He actually backed away as she stalked toward him.

Her words made Adrian stop backing up. She didn't care why.

Rage consumed her completely. She had no plan for how to kill him—her mind had gone blank with fury.

So she went straight for his chest, claws ripping through flesh. Blood poured out, but he didn't even flinch, which only made her angrier. She dug deeper, tearing at his chest.
