Alpha's Twins Chapter 119
Natalia's POV
When Beta Patric brought up the alliance, I was completely caught off guard. What possible reason could they have for wanting to work with our pack? Why were they pushing so hard for this?
Honestly, I figured Adrian would've been long gone after the way my brother treated him yesterday—basically telling him he wasn't welcome to crash at the pack house.
I thought for sure he'd have taken off by now. So why was he still hanging around? What was his angle?
That's why I held back for a bit before heading to the meeting hall after they'd already started.
The guards couldn't exactly stop me—being the head Alpha's sister has its perks.
But instead of barging in, I just posted up outside and listened.
When I heard Patric laying out their proposal, I had to admit I was pretty impressed. I'd never heard anything quite like it before.
Then when one of the alphas asked about the war situation, Adrian straight-up said he'd personally show up to help out.
I nearly choked. Was this guy for real?
You just don't find alphas willing to throw down in someone else's war. Usually, that's prime opportunity to swoop in and take over the whole pack.
I figured my brother would jump on the Crystal Blood Pack's offer. As someone who knows business, it was pretty obvious which way we should go.
But instead of sealing the deal with Adrian, Jason started cracking up.
I nudged the door open a hair to get a better view of the room. Bunch of guys sitting around the table, all looking confused as hell by Jason's reaction.
My eyes found Adrian, who looked just as lost as everyone else.
"Alpha Adrian Miller, you're something else, man," Jason said, still laughing his ass off.
"How can you seriously think my pack needs you? I've got my own pack handled just fine. You really think someone who got schooled by my sister and lost deals to her is gonna back me up in a war? You've gotta be kidding me."
My jaw dropped. My brother had no business saying that in front of everyone.
Talk about completely disrespectful.
"What the hell are you doing, Jason?" I muttered under my breath, staring at him.
All of Adrian's guys shot to their feet. Patric actually growled at Jason, which shocked the crap out of everyone.
Eric wasn't having it and growled right back. "How dare you growl at my Alpha?" Eric snapped, shooting daggers at Patric.
"Tell your Alpha to watch his mouth. Did he forget who he's talking to?" Patric fired back.
I looked over at Adrian, scared he was about to throw hands with my brother.
But he was totally calm. He held up his hand to shut down the pissing match between the two betas.
"Everyone sit down. Let Alpha Jason say his piece," Adrian said, eyes on Jason.
His guys clearly wanted to storm out, but when your Alpha gives an order, you follow it.
"You're right that Alpha Jason's got power. Maybe he doesn't need my help. That's fine. No point fighting about it. Might've bruised his ego."
Adrian's tone was totally chill. Guy was keeping it together.
"What exactly do you want to hear from me, Alpha Adrian?" Jason asked, getting up.
Standing there tall, acting like Adrian's reputation meant nothing to him. He looked around the table and his eyes stopped on Alpha Leo.
"This alliance goes to the Moon Stone Pack. Congrats, Alpha Leo," Jason announced.
Everyone went dead silent. This time Adrian couldn't keep his cool—he jumped up and said,
"I object."
"This isn't a courtroom where you get to object. This is my pack meeting, and I decide who gets the deal," Jason shot back.
"You can't just hand it off to whoever without explaining why."
"I don't like your proposal."
"We can work something out."
"Why do you even want this alliance?"
"I just do. I want this partnership, and you can tweak the terms, add whatever clauses you want."
I shook my head and rubbed my temples. "What are you up to, Adrian?" I whispered, watching this trainwreck unfold.
I didn't know what I wanted exactly, but I definitely didn't want a brawl breaking out here.
"There's no way in hell I'm linking my pack with yours. You're not good enough. Hell, I bet half the alphas in this room could take you down in a fight. The only reason people have to respect you is because daddy handed you a massive pack. Otherwise, what've you got that nobody else has?"
Jason's words came out vicious. He glanced at the other alphas, who all stood up looking nervous as they watched these two go at it.
"By the way, Alpha Adrian's got some serious issues. From what I hear, he was married a few years back, but his wife eventually bailed because he treated her like garbage. Plus, he's never made any public announcements about getting engaged or married to his girlfriend. Makes me wonder if he's got some health prob—"
"Alpha Jason, watch your damn mouth," Adrian's gamma warned, his eyes shifting color.
I turned away from the meeting hall and grabbed my hair in frustration. I tried mind-linking my brother to get him to stop, but he'd blocked everyone out. Tried Eric too, but he'd also shut down his links so they could focus on the meeting.
I kept trying, but when I heard Adrian's pissed-off voice, I froze completely.
"You don't need to worry about my wife."
"Ex-wife," I heard Eric correct him.
I turned back to the hall and caught them in action. Adrian glared at Eric, who just rolled his eyes.
Adrian turned back to Jason and gave him a cold warning:
"Screw your alliance. You'll regret what you pulled today."
