When I heard Lynda say that, I was completely floored.

I shot up from my chair. "What did you just say?"

She stood up too, giving me a firm nod. "You heard me right, Adrian. I'll be their mother."

I shook my head hard. No way. She had no clue what she was getting into. She was just going along with whatever without really thinking it through.

"Adrian, it's a good thing if she takes care of your kids. Why are you fighting this?" Mom asked, forcing a smile that didn't reach her eyes.

"Mom, you don't get it."

I didn't love Lynda. Even if I ended up marrying her down the road, it would just be settling - nothing more than that.

I glanced over at Dad. He was watching me with this completely blank look on his face.

"I was going to give you another option, but your girlfriend already made her choice. So now it's up to you - I'm done meddling in your business," Dad told me.

I knew exactly what he was getting at. He wanted me to go back to Natalia.

But that wasn't happening. Not in a million years.

That woman deserved to be shut out of my life, not welcomed back in.

I stormed out of the living room, my mood dark as hell. Walking past the garden, I stopped and looked through the door at my kids.

Noah was being the big brother, patting Aria's head like a little grown-up.

"We're going back to Mommy. Don't worry."

The confidence in his voice hit me right in the gut. I stared at him - total mama's boy through and through.

My hands clenched into fists as I mind-linked one of my officials.

After wrapping up that conversation, I walked over to the kids. The second they saw me coming, they jumped up from the bench and started heading for the door.

I caught their hands and gently pulled them back to sit down.

I dropped to my knees in front of them. They wouldn't even look at me.

"Are you two mad at Daddy?"

Noah's voice came out all shaky. "You're not our daddy."

That stung like hell, but I kept my cool.

"I know this is really hard for both of you, but you'll get used to living here. I'm going to get you into the best school in the pack. You'll make friends and... and you'll move on from her."

Aria looked up at me with tears streaming down her face.

"She's my mommy."

Seeing her cry just crushed me. I wiped her tears away with my thumb.

"Hey, don't cry."

Right then, Delta Julian showed up in the garden with a tablet and a phone.

I handed them over to the kids. "Here, you two can play with these. Maybe they'll help you feel a little better."

I remembered how much Aria loved messing around on my phone back at the hotel.

Noah's eyes lit up instantly. He grabbed the tablet and broke into this huge grin.

Aria took the phone more slowly, but her face brightened up too. I couldn't help but smile and ruffled both their heads.

As I was leaving the garden, I spotted Lynda standing by the door.

She glanced at the kids, then looked back at me.

"You really love them."

I looked away. "Of course I do. They're my blood."

"Too bad their mother doesn't love you. I still can't believe she's been playing you all these years, Adrian."

Her words hit home, and I felt my jaw tighten.

But then she kept going, and what she said next floored me.

"Adrian, do you see what her game plan was? First, she drugged you and slept with you. Then she forced you into marriage. When she realized you weren't going to fall for her act and that you'd never make her your Luna, she divorced you and took off with your kids. She's been training them to turn against you. Her whole plan was to destroy you so her brother and that so-called fiancé Eric could swoop in and take your pack."

It all clicked into place - Natalia had been scheming against me this entire time.
