Alpha's Twins Chapter 170
I looked away from his intense stare and turned toward the window. The drive to the hotel took us over thirty minutes. When we finally arrived, Adrian pulled up to the front entrance.
I glanced up at the building and felt a jolt of recognition—it was the same hotel where I'd stayed when I came to help Adrian's father find a cure for Max.
Turning slightly, I noticed Max had fallen asleep against my shoulder.
I watched him for a moment. There was something almost endearing about how peaceful he looked while sleeping.
A sharp tap on the window snapped me out of my thoughts, making me realize what I'd been thinking.
'What's wrong with you, Natalia?' I mentally scolded myself, shaking my head.
When I looked up, I saw Adrian glaring at me through the glass.
Even after making my life hell, he still had the nerve to shoot me those looks every chance he got. I was convinced he was just waiting for the right moment to get rid of me for good.
I opened the door and stepped out. I was about to help Max when Adrian cut in.
"Stay away from him."
I rolled my eyes where he couldn't see. Just then, a couple of hotel staff rushed over to Adrian's car and began helping Max out.
"Careful—he's sleeping," I told them as they headed toward the entrance.
"Stupid woman. He's not sleeping. He's unconscious," I heard Adrian mutter under his breath.
That stopped me cold. 'Unconscious? I thought he was just sleeping.'
Seeing me lost in thought, Adrian decided to twist the knife.
"What's going through that head of yours? Planning how to sneak into the hotel and find his room?"
His words snapped me back to reality. I turned to face him, my voice ice-cold.
"Don't push me, Alpha Adrian. The only reason I'm keeping my mouth shut and being civil with you is because you have my children. I'm not some ungrateful woman. You gave my family shelter after the war—that was decent enough for me to accept you as head Alpha. But don't mistake my restraint for weakness. I can hit back just as hard."
I ignored the cold mask he always wore—I wondered how I'd ever fallen for someone like him years ago. Now that I'd moved on, all I felt for him was disgust.
I turned and walked toward the street, raising my hand to flag down a taxi.
"Don't act like you're some saint. You can make excuses for everything else, but not for the night you drugged me."
His angry growl echoed behind me. He was practically roaring.
I spun around and met his eyes head-on.
The fury building inside me made my eyes flash blue as I fired back.
"I'm sick of hearing about that damn night, Adrian. You think I drugged you? Fine. Yes, I drugged you that night. I plotted against you. I never wanted you—I was only after your position."
