Alpha's Twins Chapter 87

Jason turned to me and studied my confused expression.

"It was Adrian who took her, wasn't it?"

My jaw dropped. He knew!

"Jason, how did you figure that out?"

"Give me some credit here. I'm the head Alpha – I can read people pretty well. Now tell me, why did he do it?"

I looked down, mumbling, "He wanted answers."

"That bastard! What did you tell him?"

I couldn't bring myself to say it. He was my big brother, and what I'd told Adrian was so humiliating I never wanted to repeat it to anyone.

"She told him their father was dead," Eric answered for me.

"And? Didn't he want to know more details?"

"She said it was just a one-night stand and she didn't know much about the guy."

Jason went quiet for a moment, then let out a heavy sigh.

"That was incredibly stupid, Natalia."

I looked up at him. "But Jason, I didn't have any other choice! I had to come up with something!"

Jason gave me a look that made my stomach drop. "He's not the same Adrian who used to be your husband anymore. He's Alpha Adrian, leader of the Crystal Blood Pack. I hate to break it to you, but he's smart enough to see right through your lies. He's not some teenager who'll buy a story like that."

I frowned. "But he did believe me! He got pissed off and let me take Aria home."

Jason whipped around to face Eric, his eyes going dark. "Why the hell didn't you tell me about this? Why did you let her go to that man?"

Eric's head dropped in submission. I'd never seen Jason this angry with Eric before – it shocked me.

"Jason, it wasn't his fault—"

Jason held up his hand to cut me off and glared at Eric.

"Is this how you protect my sister? By sending her straight to her ex-husband?"

I felt terrible. Because of me, Eric was getting chewed out.

"I'm sorry, Jason," Eric muttered. He sounded furious but still apologized because Jason was his Alpha.

"Jason, please listen to me! Don't take it out on him. He didn't do anything wrong. I'm the one who begged him to let me go to Adrian so I could get Aria back. I was scared Adrian might hurt my daughter if Eric came with me."

"I need to talk to Natalia alone," Jason said coldly.

Eric nodded without looking at either of us and left the room.

I stared at the door Eric had just closed behind him, feeling awful for him.

"Look at me. When are you going to start telling me about your problems? Why are you always scared to come to me? Don't you think I'm a good brother?"

I turned back to Jason. He looked furious. I walked over and hugged him, trying to calm him down.

"Jason, I'm so sorry. Please don't be mad. I know you love me and care about me. I feel the same way about you. That's exactly why I don't want to drag you into my mess."

I pulled back when I realized he wasn't hugging me back. His angry expression hadn't changed.

Usually he was the sweetest guy who'd do anything to protect his little sister, but when Jason got mad, it was game over. His wolf wouldn't let him calm down easily. Alpha blood and all.

"Fine, I'll tell you the truth. I thought you'd hurt him, so I kept it from you."

He stared at me. "Do you still love that man?"

The question caught me completely off guard. Why would he even ask that? Didn't he already know the answer?

"No, Jason."

"Then why did you care if I hurt him?"

I tried to clear up his confusion. "As head Alpha, you can't just attack another Alpha who came here for your event. I didn't want you doing something that could ruin your reputation."

Jason sighed and sat down on the bed. I sat next to him.

"Jason, I'm fine. Aria's okay too. So don't worry about it."

Jason rubbed his forehead like he had a massive headache. "Do you have any idea what you've done? That man isn't going to just drop this."

"But he bought my story. And today Eric told me about Qadir's spell. So Adrian will never find out the truth anyway."

Jason turned to look at me. "That guy can't keep anything from you, can he?"

He meant Eric. I never would've known about the spell if Eric hadn't told me.

"Don't give him a hard time again, Jason. We're his family. It hurts him when you yell at him. Aren't you two supposed to be best friends?"

"I'm glad you care about him."

I looked away. "It's not like that. He's just a good friend."

"What you told Adrian – he's going to use that against you, Natalia. He'll spread it around to trash your reputation in our pack. What are you going to do then?"

That hit me like a punch to the gut. Adrian absolutely could do that. I couldn't believe that man. But if he did, what would happen to my kids and their future?

"What do I do now, Jason?"

He put his hand on my head. "Move forward with your life. You and your kids need someone who can protect you – as a man, as your man."

I pushed his hand away and stood up.

"Jason, you know I don't want that. I don't want to leave you all and start over somewhere else."

He stood up too. "You wouldn't have to leave us. Nothing would change in your life. You already know the guy. He'd never leave the pack house."

I turned to face him. "Jason, what are you—"

"No one would be a better man for you and a better father for your kids than Eric. Accept him, Natalia."
