Alpha's Twins Chapter 142
I tried to shake my head, but his grip tightened until I thought my jaw might snap.
"Don't do this. What about my parents? Where will they go?"
He let go of my jaw with a dark laugh that sent chills down my spine. There was something unhinged in his eyes, like he wasn't even the same person anymore.
He looked more dangerous now than he ever had when we first got married.
I figured the truth had broken something inside him. He'd been fine until he found out who I really was.
He took another sip of his drink and turned away from me. I stood there staring at his back, noticing fresh claw marks on his upper shoulder blade.
I remembered when we were in the forest and he was helping me—I'd scratched him pretty bad that day.
Adrian walked over to the bed and grabbed a pack of cigarettes. He set his glass down on the nightstand, lit up, and took a long drag.
When he turned back to face me, he asked, "So you're an Alpha? This whole time you've been pretending to be some weak Omega. Damn, I'm impressed by your acting skills."
I didn't answer. Just kept staring at him. He'd won this war. There wasn't anything left for me to say. He held all the cards now.
When he saw I wasn't going to respond, his expression got even darker. I looked away and finally spoke up.
"I'm sorry I got it wrong during the war. I thought you'd declared war on us. So I—"
"So you were ready to kill me?"
His interruption made me meet his eyes again. I shook my head. "I didn't have a choice. I thought you were going to kill my brother."
"And you picked your brother over me."
I frowned at him. "Of course I did. I'll always pick family. Why would I choose you over any of them? Who are you to me? Nobody. So don't act like I should feel guilty about protecting my family."
I couldn't hold back my anger anymore. Everything I'd been thinking just came pouring out.
The second his eyes flashed red with rage, I knew I'd said way too much.
In a split second, he was right in front of me with his hand around my throat.
My eyes went wide. He dropped his cigarette on the floor and turned to glare at me with pure fury.
"How dare you talk to your head Alpha like that? Maybe nobody told you what happened during the war. When your brother was scared for his life, he got down on his knees and submitted to me."
Even though my neck was killing me, I glared right back at him. "My brother would never do that to save himself. If he was a coward, he wouldn't have fought in the first place."
"Still being stubborn? Should I break you again?" he muttered, leaning so close I could feel his breath on my face.
My throat was closing up. He was actually choking the life out of me. Did he want me dead? I guess I couldn't blame him—I had tried to kill him first.
"There's only one thing I can't forgive, and that's betrayal. All these years, you've been lying to me, Natalia Hansley. How should I punish you?"
I knew he was talking about our kids.
I felt something warm and wet on my neck. Blood was seeping from the wound that still hadn't healed. Adrian had been the one to pull that wooden stake out of my neck. Now he was the one making it hurt again.
"You lied to me about my children. How could you?" His voice was full of rage.
I tried to break free from his grip as my eyes shifted blue.
I shoved hard against his chest, right where his wound was, and he stumbled back in pain.
The moment he let go, I started coughing and gasping for air.
After catching my breath, I looked at him and growled, "They're MY children."
He glared back at me and said something that made my blood run cold.
"You don't deserve to be with them. From now on, they're living with me. With their father."
