Alpha's Twins Chapter 199
**Adrian's POV**
Harold said he needed some time to pull together the information I'd asked for.
My mood was absolute shit right now. I had no clue Lynda had paid such a steep price for helping me escape.
I already felt like crap about everything she'd done for me, but hearing that those bastards had beaten her? That made the guilt ten times worse.
"Adrian."
Dad's voice cut through my thoughts. I looked up at him.
"Come with me."
He headed for the stairs without waiting for an answer. I glanced over at Lynda, who was staring down at her hands, then at Mom. She looked completely torn up about this whole thing—probably worried sick about Lynda.
I sighed and followed the old man upstairs.
He went straight to his bedroom. I trailed behind him.
"Close the door," he said.
I shut it and waited. He gestured toward the couch by his bed.
"Sit."
I sat down, wondering what the hell this was about.
He walked over to his closet and pulled out a bottle of wine, then came back to the sitting area. He settled into the chair across from me and reached for two glasses sitting on the coffee table.
He poured wine into both glasses. I had no idea where this was going. He slid one across to me.
"Let's have a drink."
I frowned. This was a first—Dad had never offered me a drink before. We weren't exactly the type to bond over a bottle and heart-to-heart conversations.
I picked up the glass and stared at the dark red liquid. The wine looked like blood. Knowing Dad, it was probably some expensive vintage from his collection.
I swirled the wine around, watching it coat the glass. Dad was studying me.
When he realized I wasn't drinking, he spoke up.
"You're quite the mystery, you know that?"
My hand froze. I met his eyes.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"When you were younger, I never thought you'd become such a powerful Alpha. You have this presence now—you can command any room. You used to be this hot-headed kid who just flew off the handle at everything. But now you know when to show strength and when to hold back. You've become the ideal head Alpha, not that reckless boy anymore."
I looked back down at my wine while he talked. He thought I was calm and controlled? If only he knew. Did he have any idea how much his decisions had screwed up my life? Two choices that changed everything.
First, he forced me to marry Natalia when I didn't want to. Second, he broke her pack bond and made her a rogue. He should have fought the divorce. He should have talked to me before severing that bond.
Even though I signed those papers, I never would have let her leave the pack back then.
"I've never asked what's really going on in your head, Adrian. I know I've made some bad calls with you. Today, I want to ask you something, and I need you to be honest with me."
I looked at him, not sure what was coming. His question caught me completely off guard.
"When you married Natalia, you didn't give a damn about her. Now you're divorced but you have kids together—do you regret losing her?"
