Alpha's Twins Chapter 125
Alpha Leo's words hit me like a slap to the face. What the hell was he thinking, saying something like that?
When another Alpha walked over to congratulate him, Leo turned to face the guy.
"This was your project from the start, Alpha Leo. We all knew Alpha Jason would hand it over to his buddy," the alpha said.
"Of course," Leo replied with a shrug.
Since I was standing behind them, I caught every word. Not wanting to deal with this crap, I turned left and walked to the other side of the room.
I wasn't in the mood to listen to any more of their bullshit. Thankfully, this wasn't one of those corporate parties where I'd have to schmooze with other CEOs. Only head Alphas had shown up tonight. Even though I knew most of them, I had zero interest in making small talk.
I found a couch and pulled out my phone, scrolling through the news. A few headlines caught my eye.
As I scrolled down my timeline, I saw the story about how Alpha Jason had humiliated Alpha Adrian during some meeting.
One of the head Alphas had given a statement describing what my brother supposedly said to Adrian, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. These guys were clearly embellishing the hell out of whatever actually happened.
It was obvious they were thrilled that the Crystal Blood Pack and Blue Blood Pack were back to being enemies.
Nobody wanted two powerhouse packs getting cozy with each other.
I wondered if Adrian had responded to any of this. But there was nothing. Of course there wasn't—nobody releases statements after getting publicly humiliated. It's like admitting defeat in a war.
I overheard some Alphas nearby talking shit about Adrian's capabilities, and my jaw clenched.
I locked my phone and looked over at the couches near mine.
"Alpha Jason was right on the money. We heard rumors about Alpha Adrian's wedding a few years back. I wonder who the woman was. He never made any public announcements about getting married, and he sure as hell never acknowledged any divorce."
"Exactly. She just disappeared into thin air. Think he killed her?"
"Maybe. Or maybe he paid her off to keep quiet. You know what they say—a man's power doesn't mean shit if he can't satisfy a woman in bed."
They all burst out laughing.
I looked away, feeling my blood boil. Why did their gossip piss me off so much? These assholes were talking about stuff they knew nothing about.
Would any of them have the balls to say this crap to Adrian's face?
*Don't think about him, Natalia. Focus on something else,* I told myself, getting to my feet.
I grabbed a drink from a passing waiter and downed it in one gulp, then shoved the empty glass back onto his tray. The poor guy looked shocked.
I shrugged like I didn't give a damn if I got wasted. I just wanted to get that man out of my head completely. Why couldn't I stop thinking about him?
"Natalia."
My brother's voice cut through my thoughts. I turned toward him.
He was waving me over from across the room, gesturing for me to join him.
I nodded and walked over. As I got closer, I saw Alpha Leo and a few other guys standing with him.
I could feel Leo's eyes glued to me. I ignored his stare and stood next to my brother.
"Alpha Leo was just talking about inviting us to his pack," Jason said.
"You should go, brother. I'm pretty swamped with company stuff," I replied politely.
Before Jason could respond, Leo jumped in.
"Oh, come on. You're absolutely gorgeous. I bet other CEOs just hand you projects based on your looks alone."
I almost rolled my eyes but managed to keep it together. Was this guy seriously trying to hit on me right in front of my brother?
His comment was pretty insulting, so I cleared my throat and shot back,
"You're wrong. I get projects by proving my skills, not by flashing a smile."
Leo and the other men standing around us looked stunned. Clearly, they hadn't expected me to call him out.
Jason grinned and wrapped his arm around my shoulders like a proud big brother.
"My sister's a gem. Everything she touches turns to gold. She's a workaholic who earns everything through pure talent and hard work. So watch your mouth when you're talking about her."
Leo let out an awkward laugh. "Actually, I'm just blown away by her beauty."
His comment caught me off guard. Jason's expression darkened.
"Jason, we've been friends for a while now. Why don't we turn this friendship into something deeper?"
"What do you mean?" Jason asked, his voice tense.
Leo glanced at me with this weird smirk. I didn't like where this was going.
I wasn't stupid—I could see where this conversation was headed. But I'd never had another Alpha be this bold with my brother before. Everyone knew Jason had a temper, so even if they were interested in me, they usually kept their distance out of respect—or fear.
Leo turned back to my brother and laid it out there.
"I want to make your sister my Luna."
