Alpha's Twins Chapter 154

3 min 30.7K views

I spun around to face the old man, who was wearing this huge grin like he'd just won the lottery. Sunlight was streaming through the whole house, giving me a clear view of his face.

Sure, he had wrinkles that screamed "senior citizen," but everything else about him looked like he could bench press a truck. The guy had the build of someone half his age.

I knew exactly how he pulled that off. Magic was keeping him young on the inside, even if his face couldn't hide the years.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Patric's voice came from right next to me.

I'd gotten distracted for a second there, but now I was focused on what the old guy had just said.

What did he mean he'd been waiting for me? How could he possibly know I'd show up here someday?

He walked over to us with this whole gentleman act, gesturing toward the couches like we were at some fancy tea party.

"Usually I just sit on the floor when I have visitors. But since you're Alpha Adrian, I can't exactly ask you to plop down on the ground."

I let out a harsh laugh. "What's with the VIP treatment? Feeling guilty about that little stunt you pulled a few years back? Worried I might snap your neck?"

The old man just shook his head. What really got me was that his eyes didn't show even a hint of fear or regret about what he'd done.

"Adrian, this guy's got secrets. Let's sit down and hear what he has to say," Patric whispered, tugging me toward the couches.

I dropped into a seat and muttered angrily, "I'll crack his little mystery in about two minutes."

The old man settled into the single chair across from us and just stared at me.

"What? Why are you eyeballing me? Planning to offer me your daughter's hand in marriage?"

My tone was pure sarcasm. He actually chuckled. "Alpha, you're pretty funny. I've heard plenty about you, but everyone just talks about how terrified they are of you. Nobody mentioned you had a sense of humor."

This guy was seriously testing my patience. He wasn't answering any of my actual questions.

"Stop wasting my time. I didn't come here to listen to your small talk."

"Of course not. What brings you to this old man's humble home? How can I help you?" The old man—Qadir—asked.

"Why did you help them hide my kids? What if that spell had never broken during the war? I would've never found out the truth."

He shook his head like I was wrong. "It was fate that helped you learn about it. I warned Natalia she couldn't hide the truth forever. Told her to get ready for when it all came out. But she was young and loved those children more than her own life. She didn't take my warning seriously."

His answer made me so furious I shot to my feet. How dare he talk about this like it was nothing? He was straight-up admitting he'd done it.

What really pissed me off was that he wasn't even asking for forgiveness. Instead, he was calling his betrayal my "fate."

My eyes blazed red as I glared at him. "Your time's up. I thought about giving you a chance, but you're just an arrogant old fool with zero regrets."

Patric jumped up when I started moving toward the man. This bastard deserved to die.

"Adrian, wait—"

Patric tried to stop me just as my hand was about to reach the old man, but he cut off mid-sentence when I let out a pained groan.

The old man's eyes turned this deep, unnatural green as he stared at me.

A sharp pain shot through my chest. When I looked down to check what was happening, I was completely shocked.

Flames were erupting from the claw marks Natalia had left on my chest!
