Alpha's Twins Chapter 159
We all turned toward the doorway where she stood frozen for a moment before rushing over to me, her hand gripping my arm tight.
"Adrian, how is this even possible? Who are these kids?"
I couldn't meet her eyes. "You heard right. They're mine."
She yanked on my arm, forcing me to look at her. Her reaction caught me off guard, but I couldn't blame her for freaking out. This woman loved me, and I'd just blindsided her with the news.
I finally looked at her. "Lynda, I'm not flying solo anymore. I'm a single dad now. These kids are my responsibility."
The disbelief was written all over her face. "How can you be so sure they're yours? Did you get a DNA test?"
The memory hit me—how I'd tried to get the truth, but Natalia had played me. I needed to track down that doctor who gave me those bogus results. He was going to pay for this.
I pulled her hand off my arm. "I don't need tests. I can feel it. My wolf can smell them."
She stepped back, eyes going wide. She looked completely lost, her gaze darting around the room like she was searching for an escape.
"Lynda, get it together. Don't act like a child," my mother snapped at her.
Lynda shook her head frantically. "How can you expect me to act normal when Adrian shows up with kids? How? Did Natalia trap you again?"
I whipped around, glaring at her. "How do you know Natalia's their mother?"
"I-I just figured you never cheated on me. They must be from your first marriage."
Seeing the fear in her face made me exhale slowly. I'd almost let my suspicions get the better of me.
She was innocent in all this. How could I look at her like she was the enemy?
This was all Natalia's fault. She'd screwed me up so bad that I couldn't trust any woman anymore.
Mom waved over a maid. "Bring Lynda some water."
After she'd calmed down a bit, Lynda looked at me. "Can I meet them?"
"No. They don't want to meet anyone."
Mom cut me off. "At least let her see them."
I couldn't say no to that. Lynda went out to the garden with a maid, keeping her distance while she watched the kids.
She came back to the living room a few minutes later, the silence heavy between us.
She sat down next to me. I could feel Dad watching her every move.
He still had a soft spot for Natalia, even after everything she'd pulled. That's why he couldn't fully accept Lynda.
"Adrian," Lynda whispered, staring down at her hands.
I didn't want to destroy this woman who'd given me a second chance at life. I'd wanted to make her happy, but instead I'd become cold and distant.
She didn't deserve a guy with baggage—two kids with another woman.
"Lynda, you've been with me for years. I can't give you what you deserve anymore. You need someone better. I could arrange for you to transfer to another pack where nobody knows about us. You could start fresh there, find a good guy."
She grabbed my hand immediately, shaking her head hard.
"Don't even think about it, Adrian. I'll die if you leave me."
She glanced at my parents, then back at me.
"Your father's right. Your kids need a mother, and I'll be that for them. I'll raise them like they're my own and give them all the love they need."
