Alpha's Twins Chapter 95
I stared at that card forever. Had no clue who the hell sent it to me.
It was basically throwing down the gauntlet. I crumpled up the card and chucked it in the trash.
"I've seen plenty of Alphas get their asses handed to them by women who won't back down. This little threat doesn't scare me."
I crawled back into bed and tried to get some sleep.
When I cracked my eyes open, sunlight was already streaming through the windows. I stretched and yawned, glancing outside.
"New day, new bullshit to deal with," I muttered, rolling out of bed.
I dug through my suitcase and pulled out something decent to wear.
After a quick shower, I got dressed. Coming out of the bathroom, I caught sight of those red roses sitting by the bed.
The card and its creepy message flashed through my mind. I shrugged it off and towel-dried my hair.
Checking myself in the mirror, I slapped on some light makeup and blow-dried my hair. Once I looked presentable, I called Damia. She was ready too and had already told everyone to meet downstairs in the lobby.
We grabbed breakfast together and went over our project one more time. Then we headed out to the Storm Forest Pack's corporate headquarters.
"Pleasure to meet you, CEO Natalia." CEO Wade shook my hand.
He was Alpha Seth Campbell's older brother - way older than me, probably pushing fifty.
Since there was such a huge age gap between him and his younger brother, Wade had stepped down as Alpha last year. But he'd kept his grip on the business side of things. This deal was make-or-break for his pack, so he wasn't going anywhere until it was locked down with a strong partner.
I pitched our project to him. Eric was right there with me during the whole presentation, along with Damia and our other managers.
"I'm seriously impressed with what you've put together. This could revolutionize everything we do. The princess of the Blue Blood Pack strikes again - you never let anyone down," Wade told me.
That kind of praise pretty much sealed the deal for us.
I shot Eric a look, and he was grinning like an idiot. He gave me this little nod that said we'd nailed it.
Actually, Eric was the genius who suggested we go last, after all the other packs had presented. He'd heard through the grapevine that there were some solid competitors, so he figured going last would help us stick in Wade's mind.
Wade asked for a few tweaks, and we were totally cool with that.
"Thanks so much. See you at tonight's conference! May the best company win," Wade said as we wrapped up.
Walking out of that office, I finally let myself breathe. This deal was everything - my chance to prove I belonged here. I really hoped we'd clinch it tonight.
Eric clapped me on the shoulder. "Relax. We've got this in the bag. Nobody can touch what we just delivered."
I nodded, feeling a little better. Damia was practically bouncing off the walls about tonight. She was already planning out all the places she wanted to hit up. I really liked this girl - she was smart, reliable, and never left me drowning in work by myself. I owed her.
So I promised that once all this business was wrapped up, win or lose, we'd all take some time to explore the pack territory.
We left the office around lunchtime. Eric knew a good spot, so we grabbed some food there.
Got back to the hotel in the afternoon with plenty of time to get ready for the conference.
I stared at the white dress laid out on my bed.
Once I had it on, I looked like I meant business. Tonight was all about showing everyone I wasn't someone to mess with. I did my makeup to cover up the exhaustion and give myself that sharp, professional edge.
While I was getting ready, my eyes kept drifting to those roses.
They really were gorgeous. Sure, someone sent them as some kind of twisted warning, but damn if those red roses weren't beautiful.
I grabbed my phone and slipped into white heels. Pulling my hair back in a high ponytail, I checked myself out from every angle in the mirror.
When I felt confident about how I looked, I headed out.
We all met up in the lobby and walked outside. Three cars were waiting for us, just like this morning when we went to the corporate office. All our managers piled in.
As I was getting into one of the cars with Eric and Damia, I noticed some seriously expensive rides parked across the street.
Probably belonged to all the head Alphas showing up for tonight's conference.
Our drivers fired up the engines and led the convoy to the venue.
I stared out the window, watching the pack's nightlife come alive.
This pack was famous for how much territory they controlled. Forest covered half their land, which kept them constantly on edge.
Never knew when some other pack might come hunting for what they had.
We pulled up to the venue and climbed out.
The second I walked into that hall, every pair of eyes locked onto me. I could practically feel their curiosity radiating off them. I wasn't stupid - I knew exactly why they were all so interested.
I kept my chin up and walked in like I owned the place. Eric steered me around to chat with some Alphas I hadn't met before. One by one, more powerful Alphas started filing in, their presence filling the room.
We were deep in conversation when some commotion started up near the entrance.
I turned around and saw those same luxury cars I'd spotted outside the hotel earlier pulling up outside.
One of the Alphas we'd been talking to suddenly straightened up.
"Alpha Adrian's here!"
