Alpha's Twins Chapter 93
All my worry melted away. I hit the speakerphone button so Jason and Eric could hear Harold too.
"How did you manage to change it?" I asked Harold.
Harold started telling me about what happened that day.
"There's a reason he's our head Alpha. He knew I was connected to you somehow, so he kept me out of the loop completely. He brought in another doctor who wasn't under my supervision. It wasn't easy to figure out what was going on. Thank God for Lynda."
My eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Lynda? How?"
"She called me the day Adrian came back to the Crystal Blood pack. She was asking about some report, but I had no clue what she was talking about. I couldn't figure out what report Adrian and his Beta were discussing. But today, Lynda showed up at the hospital with Adrian's parents. Somehow she found the report - don't ask me how. She begged for my help. She was crying, saying she couldn't lose Adrian. So I told her I'd help. But honestly, I just wanted to protect you and your kids."
I went quiet for a while. I didn't know what to say. I couldn't decide whether to thank Lynda in my head or curse her for yet another scheme.
"Don't worry, Natalia. I took care of everything. I changed the report, and the other doctor has no idea. You can breathe easy now."
"Thank you so much, Harold. I don't know how to—"
"Don't. You call me your friend. If friends can't keep each other's secrets, who can?"
Jason walked over and spoke to Harold.
"You've always had my sister's back. Tell me how I can return the favor."
Harold chuckled at my brother's words.
"Alpha Jason, I don't need anything. My Alpha gives me everything I need, but I'm so worried about your sister's safety that I'm hiding this from him. Maybe I'm betraying him because of it."
After talking with Harold, I felt so grateful to have a friend like him.
His reassurance gave me my life back.
"Everything's crystal clear now. You just need to focus on your future. Don't worry about anything else. Even if that man finds out the truth, he'll never be able to hurt you or your children as long as your brother's got your back."
I hugged him, and he stroked my hair. I glanced at Eric, who nodded at me.
Two days ago, when Jason suggested I move on with Eric, I said no. It wasn't because Eric wasn't my type or because I had issues with him - it was because I didn't want to lose a friend. I could never give him the place in my heart that someone else had taken.
I just didn't want to ruin his beautiful life.

As time went on, I threw myself back into running my company.
Day by day, the business world made me feel like I could hold my own with any man. It gave me this sense that I was just as capable as anyone else.
My pack's company was thriving because every single employee trusted me and worked their asses off to grow our business.
My parents and brother were blown away by how I'd stepped up and handled everything.
I wasn't scared anymore.
It was all over.
I could feel that constant fear about Adrian lifting from my chest - I didn't have to worry about the truth coming out anymore.
Over the past few weeks, my company had been winning every single deal I went after.
Whenever Alphas from other packs came to meet with Jason about alliances, they'd meet with me to talk business.
It was early morning when I walked into my office, checking on the employees as I went.
They were so focused on their work, like it was the only thing keeping them alive. I figured they were just putting on a show because they thought I was strict. The second I disappeared into my office, they'd start chatting again.
That was fine with me. They had their own lives, and there was nothing wrong with a friendly work environment.
"Boss, your coffee." Damia set a cup on my desk.
"Thanks, Damia," I said, not looking up from my file.
"Boss, why are you even stressing? You know you're going to nail this deal," she said with pride in her voice.
I put the file down and looked at her. "We can't get overconfident, Damia."
"Yes, boss."
She left after grabbing a few files from my desk.
This new project was huge for me and my pack.
There was a conference coming up in two days. All the packs were preparing their pitches for the deal that would be discussed there.
I'd been working on this deal all week. I was confident I could pull it off. I guess everyone felt the same way.
I worked straight through the day without taking any breaks. I'd become a total workaholic. Business was all I wanted to focus on.
I had to make my company shine as bright as possible.
Just as I was about to get up from my chair, I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in."
Eric walked in with our managing director.
"What's up?"
"Miss, we've finished working on all the issues you asked us to address," the manager told me.
He handed me a folder and left my office.
I started reviewing everything, looking for flaws, but I was impressed - everyone had done amazing work on this project.
"Natalia."
I looked at Eric, who seemed upset about something.
"What? Are you okay?"
He shook his head. "I heard from the committee that another pack is going after this deal, and it's a really powerful one."
