Alpha's Twins Chapter 44
"Wait."
I knew he'd be heading toward the Blue Blood Pack, but I wasn't going back tonight.
Sure, I'd agreed with Uncle Lucas, but that didn't change the fact that this was going to be the worst week I'd remember in a very long time.
Adrian hadn't let me breathe for one single day. Staying in his pack for a week? That was basically handing him a free pass to mess with me even more.
*Why am I being so emotional? Damn it! I can't even say no to them,* I thought.
"Miss? What's wrong?" The driver turned around to look at me.
"Take me to a hotel."
His eyes went wide. He shook his head.
"Alpha Jason will kill me." His voice was shaking. "I can't let you stay in this pack another day."
"I'll talk to him. Don't worry. I'm planning to stay here for a week."
The driver had no choice but to listen. He started the car and set the GPS for a five-star hotel.
I stared out the window, feeling the cold breeze tickle my nose.
I looked down at my lap for a while. I kept thinking about calling Jason, but I couldn't bring myself to dial his number.
If he found out I'd decided to stay here, he'd be furious with me.
I knew Eric wouldn't support my decision either.
So finally, I called my dad. He was the one in my family who always spoiled me. I figured he couldn't say no to me.
"Dad." I spoke the moment he picked up.
"Natalia, have you left there yet?"
His question caught me off guard. "No, Dad," I said quietly.
"Oh, then don't leave that pack today. Leave tomorrow."
That surprised me. "Why, Dad?"
"That pack is really dangerous. I don't want you running into trouble at night."
"Dad, there's something I need to tell you." I mumbled quietly.
Like he could sense something was wrong, he asked, "What happened, Natalia? Is everything okay, sweetheart?"
I took a deep breath. Instead of beating around the bush, I should just be honest with him.
"Dad, everything's fine. But I have to stay here for a week."
Complete silence on the other end for a few seconds.
"Dad?"
"Why? Did you change your mind about him after seeing him again?"
That startled me. He thought I'd gotten emotional after seeing Adrian, but that wasn't it at all. I absolutely hated that guy. Just thinking about him made me even angrier.
"What? No, Dad. It's not about Adrian. I don't even want to look at his face. It's about his father. He needs a cure, and I think I can help him."
"Natalia, you don't have to do all this for his family. He doesn't deserve it."
"Dad, please. Try to understand. Alpha Lucas always treated me like his daughter. Even though I was just his gamma's adopted kid and everyone else ignored me, he never failed to show me respect. How can I refuse to help him when he needs it?"
I tried to explain it to my dad. When I was an orphan and my adopted parents used to treat me badly, Alpha Lucas was the one who saw potential in me. He wanted me to be his son's Luna. For those two years, he was so kind to me.
"He's asking you for the cure?" my dad asked.
He misunderstood, thinking Alpha Lucas was being greedy. I quickly corrected him.
"No, Dad. I want to help him myself. The doctors said the treatment will be injected over a week, so he just wants me to stay with him and Aunt Grace during that time."
I prayed he'd let me stay. If he agreed, he'd handle Jason too.
"Dad, please."
"Natalia, you're an adult woman. You have every right to do whatever you think is best for you. If you want to stay there, I won't stop you."
When he said that, I could tell he wasn't happy with my decision. But since I was the one asking, he felt like he had to give in.
I sighed. "Thank you so much, Dad."
"But what about Aria and Noah? They've never been away from you this long. Should I send them to you?"
"No, Dad. They should stay away from this pack. I'll call them every day. They won't give you any trouble."
"They're our babies. They never give us trouble anyway."
I felt better after talking to my dad.
I could only hope this whole week would pass as quickly as possible. I just hoped Adrian wouldn't do anything to make my life harder.
