Adrian's expression darkened, and his smirk vanished. The kid's tone was getting on his nerves.

"I don't need your permission to be around her, kid," Adrian shot back.

"My name is Noah. Don't call me 'kid.' I warned you at the airport, so—"

"Noah, who are you talking to? Is that the handsome man?"

Another voice cut Noah off. Adrian recognized it immediately—the little girl.

"Let me talk to him."

Aria grabbed the phone from Noah before he could protest.

"Hi, handsome man! Did you meet my mommy?"

Her sweet voice caught Adrian off guard. For some reason, talking to her didn't annoy him the way kids usually did. He could picture her cute face, even though he wasn't exactly the kid-loving type.

He kept his voice gentle, not wanting to scare her. "Hey there. How are you doing?"

"I'm good! How about you?"

"Fine. And yeah, I met your mom. But why are you so excited about it?"

Aria thought for a second, glancing at her brother who looked seriously ticked off at her. She lowered her voice.

"Noah doesn't like you. But I do. You're really handsome. You look just like—"

She hesitated, and Adrian frowned. "Just like what?"

"Stop talking to her and my mom." Noah's voice came through again.

Adrian rolled his eyes. "Kid, you talk way too much for someone your age. Most kids don't sound like little adults. Maybe watch your mouth, or didn't your mom teach you any manners?"

Noah went quiet. Just then, Adrian heard the bathroom door open.

His eyes locked onto Natalia in a white bathrobe that hugged her curves perfectly. For a split second, Adrian almost lost it completely. Her scent was filling the room, and he had to fight the urge to breathe it in.

Natalia froze when she saw him in her room. She was about to yell at him, but then she noticed what he was holding.

"Why do you have my phone? Who are you talking to?" She walked toward him.

Adrian took a deep breath to get himself together. "Your mom's here. Talk to her."

Natalia snatched the phone and put it to her ear.

"Mommy, why is that man with you?" Noah's voice came through.

Natalia glared at Adrian while answering. "I just ran into him. Don't worry, Noah. Like I taught you, Mommy doesn't talk to strangers."

"But he said you were—"

"I'll call you back later."

Natalia hung up and tossed the phone onto the bed.

"How dare you touch my phone? Why are you even in my room?"

Adrian didn't answer. He just kept staring at her.

His intense gaze made Natalia uncomfortable. She moved toward the slightly open door.

"Alpha Adrian, you shouldn't be in another woman's bedroom. You need to leave."

Adrian walked over and stopped right in front of the door.

"I'm curious what you told your kids."

He paused, then asked with barely controlled anger, "I'm a stranger to you?"

"Don't give me that attitude. I'm not your wife anymore. I won't—"

Before she could finish, Adrian grabbed her arms and slammed her against the door. The impact shut it completely.

Natalia's eyes went wide. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Why did you hurt her?" Adrian demanded.

Natalia actually laughed. She could see the rage in his eyes. Did he really love Lynda that much?

"I'll hurt her again if she gets in my way. Nobody's going to stop me," she said defiantly.

He moved closer, his hands sliding from her arms to her waist.

Feeling how close they were, she took a sharp breath. He leaned down and asked, "You can't get over me, can you? You keep blaming Lynda for everything just to get my attention back."

She pressed her hands against his chest. "No way. I hate you. You disgust me."

Her words pushed Adrian over the edge. His eyes went dark. This was the second time he'd completely lost his temper.

"Those kids—how could you have them without being married? Don't you have any shame?"

"Don't you dare talk about my children." She shoved against his chest.

He caught both her hands and pinned them behind her back.

"Didn't you try to break her hand? Want me to try that on you? What exactly did you say to her? What did you call me?"

His tight grip made Natalia struggle, which loosened her bathrobe. It shifted, revealing her cleavage.

The sight made Adrian freeze completely.

The desire he'd kept locked away for years was fighting to break free.
