Alpha's Twins Chapter 138

4 min 30.7K views

My eyes went wide when I heard Eric. I couldn't believe what he was saying. Why would he lie about something like this? There was no way my brother—who had way too much pride for his own good—would ever submit to any Alpha. Especially not Adrian.

"What? Jason submitted to Adrian? Why?" Dad asked.

It was obvious he couldn't believe Eric's words either.

Eric slowly nodded. Even though I was still in complete shock, I couldn't ignore how broken up his body was.

I grabbed his hand and signaled to our theta to help me get him onto the couch.

As Eric settled next to my babies, he glanced over at them.

"How are they doing?" he asked.

My attention snapped back to the twins. I had no clue what to do. Everything was a complete mess right now.

"Eric, honey, can you tell us what happened? The whole story?" Mom asked, looking desperate to understand why Jason would make such a huge decision.

Submitting to any Alpha during wartime meant handing over the head Alpha position to them.

Eric started talking in a low voice, holding his stomach against his bandaged ribs.

"When we got to the forest, we found out Adrian had crossed into our territory, but all our intel was wrong. He didn't bring five hundred wolves with him. It was only about a hundred, but they were strong enough to take on any pack."

He stopped and took a deep breath. I walked over to the nightstand, grabbed the water glass, and handed it to him.

His hand was shaking as he gripped the glass and took a big gulp.

After a moment of silence, he continued.

"Our fighters started battling the Crystal Blood Pack's fighters. Through the mind link, they kept saying they came to help us, not fight us. But Jason thought they'd stab us in the back, so he ordered all our fighters not to let any Crystal Blood Pack member leave alive. Since it was a war declaration from the head Alpha, our fighters killed a lot of their wolves.

From the start, we were targeting Adrian and his officers. But when Jason faced off against Adrian..."

Eric stopped and closed his eyes, like remembering everything was causing him physical pain.

I needed to know the truth. "Eric, please try to remember. This is important. We need to know everything."

He coughed a little, then let out a breath. He looked at my parents, then focused on me.

"Jason fought Adrian."

"They actually fought each other?" I asked, shocked.

"Yeah, they did. Even with his illness, Jason wanted to protect this pack. But the fight didn't last long because Adrian told Jason he'd heard about Alpha Leo's attack and came here to help. Jason didn't want to believe him, but thinking about his health, he didn't have much choice. He decided to stop the war against the Crystal Blood Pack."

I was confused. "If everyone stopped fighting, then how did everything go wrong?"

"He couldn't call it off because Alpha Leo had already attacked our pack with a massive number of fighters. We all had to start fighting again, and it went completely crazy. Jason was losing his strength and thought he'd pass out right there. But when he found out Leo was heading to the pack house, fear took over his heart. He was worried about you, Natalia. We all knew Leo's target was you."

Was all of this happening because of me? If I'd accepted Alpha Leo's proposal, would things not have turned out like this? But how could I marry someone who betrayed his friend so ruthlessly?

"Why did Jason submit to Adrian?" I asked Eric seriously.

Eric answered with a broken heart.

"Adrian lost it when he realized our attack killed so many of his fighters. If Adrian wanted to, he could've killed Jason right there. But they had some conversation through mind link that made Jason freeze up. I have no idea what Adrian said to him, but after that, Jason got down on his knees and submitted to Adrian. Jason had no strength left to defend himself, and he knew Alpha Leo could kill him any second.

I don't know why, but he wanted the pack to go to Adrian rather than Leo.

But there was something Jason found out that he wanted to tell you, except he couldn't because of the attack. He only told me one thing to pass on to you."

"W-What?" I whispered, tears streaming down my face as I listened.

He sighed and said,

"Don't trust anyone."
