Alpha's Twins Chapter 285
He stood up from the couch, his eyes locked on the photograph in his hands.
Alpha Martin watched his reaction and said quietly, "A border guard sent me that photo years ago, back when I was Alpha of the Blue Blood Pack."
Adrian's hand shook as he stared at the image. "That's..."
The words caught in his throat, his heart clenching with pain.
Alpha Martin glanced at the photo. "This was taken when my border guard spotted my son bringing a rogue she-wolf to the pack hospital. Her clothes were torn and covered in dirt and blood. She was so badly hurt she'd passed out. It took forever for her to wake up and heal. She was traumatized from her divorce—still in love with her ex-husband."
Adrian's fingers tightened around the photo, unable to look away.
Natalia looked terrible in that condition. She looked half-dead. The wounds covering her body were so deep they'd soaked through her clothes with blood.
"Broke my heart seeing her like that, Alpha. My son recognized her right away—he could see her invisible wounds, the ones only he can see."
Adrian tore his gaze from the photo and looked at Alpha Martin. "Invisible wounds?"
He had no clue how much he didn't know about her. She was turning out to be more of a mystery than he'd ever realized.
Alpha Martin stared out the window. "Yeah, invisible wounds. The siblings are connected. My son can see her pain—wounds that haven't healed, ones the rest of us can't see."
Adrian listened carefully, but inside he was beating himself up for letting Natalia walk out of his life.
If he hadn't agreed to the divorce that day, if he'd just listened to her and trusted her, maybe he wouldn't be going through this hell right now.
"My daughter went through so much pain, Alpha. Your love doesn't come close to what she felt for you. I still remember the nights she'd cry over you. She was pregnant then. When she heard you were taking another woman as your Luna, it destroyed her completely. The father of her babies was marrying someone else—it nearly killed her. She almost died that night from early labor."
Adrian couldn't process what he was hearing. He couldn't take any more.
He turned toward the door. "I can't... I can't listen to this anymore. I..."
For the first time in his life, he was stuttering in front of someone. He felt completely lost. He wanted to hurt himself just to make the mental pain stop. He had no idea how much that woman had suffered because of him all these years.
"Guess I really am unforgivable."
He opened the door to leave but stopped when Alpha Martin called out.
"Alpha, I have one last request. Please hear me out."
Adrian turned back. "What is it?"
Alpha Martin took a deep breath. "Don't get between Natalia and Max. For the first time in years, I've seen real happiness in her eyes. Please don't take my daughter's happiness away from her again."
