Alpha's Twins Chapter 58
**Adrian's POV**
I spent the entire day at the hospital.
The thing is, I cared about my parents—I just never showed it. I was worried sick about my father. That didn't mean I could forgive him for wrecking my life, but hell, he was still my dad. I didn't want him to die.
I glanced over at Natalia, who was pacing back and forth outside the operating room.
I'd been watching her all day. What really threw me off was seeing how genuinely worried she looked about my father.
She kept saying we were divorced, right? So why had she been taking care of my father for an entire week?
My mother told me how Natalia had been going to the pack house, helping with his medications and making sure he was eating right.
I couldn't figure out how she knew so much about all that stuff.
In the past five years, I'd never seen my parents as happy as they were when Natalia was around.
I couldn't change their opinion of her. In their eyes, she was this dependable woman they could count on.
"Stop staring at her. You're being way too obvious."
Patric's voice came from right beside me. I tore my gaze away from Natalia and looked at him.
"What's your problem?" I asked, getting defensive.
Patric shook his head. "Nothing's wrong. I'm just saying—I've been watching you watch her. You're gonna freak the woman out."
I scoffed. Freak her out? He had no idea how bold that woman had gotten lately.
"Lynda's calling me," he muttered.
"How's her hand?" I asked.
"Don't you think her injury wasn't serious enough to warrant all that drama?"
I shot him a death glare.
His eyebrows went up. "Hey, I'm just saying what I saw," he added.
"She almost broke her damn hand."
"From what I know, Lynda's a strong Beta woman. How could she not fight back? Maybe she was trying to get someone's attention?" Patric mumbled, looking away from me.
I remembered what I'd witnessed that day. I saw Natalia twisting Lynda's hand while Lynda just cried without even trying to break free.
I wasn't an idiot. I knew if Lynda wanted to, she could've gotten away easily. When I asked her about it, she told me she was proving a point—showing me that she was right about Natalia. She was demonstrating that Natalia really had been bullying her during those two years I was married to her.
It was hard to believe that Natalia had been tormenting Lynda like that.
Lynda was innocent. She'd risked her life to save me years ago. She'd gotten hurt protecting me, and Natalia had targeted that exact same hand. It made my blood boil. Just deepened my hatred for her.
The way Natalia had talked to me in that room was another thing entirely. She was so full of herself. I thought I hated her with every fiber of my being.
My thoughts came to a screeching halt when Doctor Harold walked out of the operating room.
"How is he?" I asked immediately.
Both my mother and Natalia looked anxious to hear about my father's condition.
"You can all breathe easy now. The treatment worked."
Harold's words brought me instant relief. I glanced at Natalia, who let out a long, shaky breath.
"When can I see him?" my mother asked.
"In about an hour, once we move him to a private room. But I should warn you—he's unconscious right now. He won't wake up for three days. His wolf needs that time to heal."
My mother pressed her hand to her chest, tears in her eyes, and exhaled deeply. I watched Natalia pull her into a hug, trying to comfort her.
I stared at them. It looked like some family scene—a caring daughter-in-law consoling her mother-in-law.
I quickly looked away when I realized what I was thinking.
"Natalia, thank you. You saved Alpha Lucas today."
I heard Doctor Harold's gentle tone and immediately turned to look at him.
His eyes had gone soft while he was talking to her.
My mind flashed back to seeing them together in the hospital cafeteria, and I narrowed my eyes.
Harold seemed to suddenly realize I was watching him. When our eyes met, his eyebrows shot up.
He gave a quick nod and disappeared back into the room.
Finally, I decided to get some air.
I left the hospital and stepped outside. I lit up a cigarette and looked around while I smoked.
My eyes landed on a couple holding hands with twin kids. I watched as the father cried while holding one of the children. When I looked at the mother, she was crying too.
As they walked past me, I heard the father say, "I can't lose you, sweetheart. You're my flesh and blood. I don't know how I could live without you."
His words shocked me. Could a man really show that kind of emotion for a child?
Suddenly, the twins reminded me of Natalia's kids.
I felt a surge of anger thinking about how they were someone else's blood.
I didn't know why that little boy had issues with me, but I liked the little girl. Still, I couldn't get past the fact that they were the result of some other guy sleeping with my wife while she was married to me.
Furious, I threw my cigarette on the ground and crushed it under my shoe.
Just as I was about to head back into the hospital, something caught my attention.
I saw Natalia walking out of the hospital. A car pulled up right in front—looked like a cheap model.
A driver got out and opened the door for her like she owned the damn thing. She got in, and the driver actually bowed to her before closing the door.
Why the hell was he bowing to her? She wasn't royalty. That kind of respect was reserved for Alphas and their families.
I watched the car drive away.
I pulled out my phone and called my mother.
"Where's Natalia going?" I asked straight up, walking toward my car.
My question caught her off guard, but she answered, "She's leaving our pack."
I hung up and got in my car.
I started the engine and followed the route Natalia's car had taken.
