Alpha's Twins Chapter 36
Adrian's words hit me like a slap to the face. I whipped around to stare at him, and what I saw made my blood boil—pure hatred burning in his eyes.
God, I wanted to scream at him. I wanted to tell him the truth—that those "little bastards" he was talking about weren't some shameful mistake, but his own flesh and blood. I wanted to watch his face when he realized what he'd just said.
But knowing Adrian? He'd probably just say they were the result of that one-night stand anyway. I had zero faith in this man. He didn't deserve to know the truth about my children.
I bit my tongue, forcing myself to stay calm. I had to keep it together around him.
Being here felt like walking into a lion's den. This man wasn't going to let me have a moment's peace.
"Adrian, what is wrong with you?" Grace Miller snapped at her son. "Why would you say something like that? Nobody talks that way."
Adrian let out a cold laugh. "Oh, people talk that way, Mom. Trust me. Plenty of people don't give their kids their father's name. You know what everyone calls those kids?"
Everyone's faces darkened as they listened to him. Beta Patric cleared his throat and put a hand on Adrian's shoulder.
"Alpha, maybe we shouldn't—"
"Why not, Patric? In our world, people call those kids basta—"
"ALPHA ADRIAN!"
I shot to my feet, cutting him off mid-sentence.
I glared at him with everything I had.
His parents looked stunned by my outburst. They had no idea their son was talking about my children.
I couldn't look away from Adrian. My whole body was trembling with rage.
He just rolled his eyes like he didn't give a damn. The bastard was enjoying this—hurting me was exactly what he wanted.
Tears burned my eyes. I fought like hell to keep them from falling.
'He was about to call his own children bastards!' The thought made my hands clench into fists.
"Adrian, shut your mouth!" Lucas Miller barked at his son. "How dare you call Natalia names like that?"
Since I was adopted and didn't have biological parents around, he thought Adrian was talking about me.
Adrian didn't even respond to his father. He just kept staring at me with those cold, narrow eyes. He knew exactly whose children he was talking about, and he hated them.
'Stay calm, Natalia. Don't give him the satisfaction,' I told myself.
I turned to Uncle Lucas and Aunt Grace.
"I'm sorry for my outburst," I mumbled, looking down.
No matter how pissed I was at their son, he was still the head Alpha. Yelling at him in front of everyone was out of line.
Though if we'd been alone, I would've slapped him again—just like I did that night in the hotel.
How dare he talk about my children like that?
"It's okay, Natalia," Uncle Lucas said gently.
Aunt Grace was glaring at Adrian. "Someone else should be apologizing here, not you. Sometimes I think this boy is completely out of control."
From their expressions, I could tell they were fed up with Adrian. I'd seen how disappointed Uncle Lucas looked at the pack party when he was watching Lynda.
Was she the reason for all this tension?
"Just because I don't fight back doesn't mean you two can disrespect me all the time," Adrian said to his parents.
Uncle Lucas scoffed. "Now you're going to lecture your parents? Should we bow down to you, Alpha?"
Aunt Grace grabbed her husband's hand and squeezed his shoulder. "Lucas, let it go. You're not well enough to argue with him."
Adrian smirked at them before turning to his beta.
"Beta Patric, remind them what they used to say when I was just another pack member."
Patric looked at Adrian and shook his head, trying to stop him. But Adrian was stubborn as hell. He stared at Patric until the beta caved.
Patric lowered his head and repeated Alpha Lucas's old words when he used to run the pack:
"When it comes to rank, age and family don't matter. If you're the head Alpha, everyone bows to you—whether it's your father or your son."
Everyone stared at Beta Patric in shock.
Adrian chuckled and stood up.
His eyes locked on mine for a moment before shifting to his father.
"Remember your own words. After the way you screwed up my life and forced me into things I never wanted, I'll never forgive you."
His father looked away. His mother stared at him with tears in her eyes.
Watching them broke my heart. They looked so helpless against their own son.
How could Adrian treat his parents like this? How could he forget that they gave him life and this position?
He'd become so arrogant that he couldn't even see how he was acting toward the people who raised him.
"I'm leaving," he announced and headed for the door.
Beta Patric didn't say a word, but he glanced at me and Adrian's parents with obvious guilt about his Alpha's behavior.
As soon as Adrian and his beta left, I turned back to his parents.
I took Uncle Lucas's trembling hand. He looked really sick—physically and emotionally.
Aunt Grace was crying, which shook me to my core. She'd always been so strong. Seeing her like this was unbearable.
I couldn't help asking, "Why don't you put him in his place? The way he was talking—it's way out of line."
Uncle Lucas took a deep breath. "Over the past few years, I've seen something change in him. He's not the Adrian I used to discipline anymore. He's the head Alpha who knows how to fight and rule the wolf world."
"But he's still your son."
Aunt Grace shook her head. "He still thinks we ruined his life by forcing him to marry you."
