Alpha's Twins Chapter 107
It was Adrian. I didn't know his wolf was black. Red eyes, black fur - just like what I'd read about in that book today.
I stared into those eyes for what felt like forever. His wolf was massive - the kind of size that would send anyone running if they saw him shift.
He stepped toward me, and I realized I'd been gawking at him way too long.
I looked away and turned around.
"Let me shift. I want to meet my mate," my wolf Nancy said. She only ever reacted when Adrian was around.
I shut her down fast. "No. He's not our mate anymore."
As I started walking, I heard a growl behind me.
I glanced back and saw the wolf coming after me. Adrian's wolf, wanting to get closer.
I froze when he almost reached me, throwing my hand up to stop him.
"Don't come near me. I'm not your mate. I mean, we're breaking the bond soon."
Big mistake saying that. The second those words left my mouth, he pounced, knocking me flat on my back.
While I was still in shock, I tried pushing him off. But he started licking my neck right where Adrian had left that hickey yesterday.
"Get off me."
He wouldn't listen. I couldn't tell if this was Adrian or just his wolf in control.
"I hate you, Adrian. Leave me alone!" I yelled.
My voice echoed through the trees. He stopped and turned to look at me.
The look on that wolf's face could've scared anyone to death. I slowly reached up and touched his head. He closed his eyes and leaned into my hand, practically purring.
So it was Adrian's wolf who actually liked having me as his mate. He moved back and sat down next to me.
I sat up and looked into his closed eyes. "You shouldn't be attached to me. We're headed in different directions. But... nice meeting you."
This wasn't about our wolves fighting - it was about Adrian and me. Our wolves could talk to us, feel our pain, and we felt theirs. But in the end, we were our wolves, and they were part of us. We weren't different beings - just different forms.
When I stood up, the wolf's eyes opened and went cloudy.
I stepped back immediately. Adrian was taking control now.
Did he seriously just let his wolf get petted by me? Why didn't he stop his wolf from coming near me? Didn't he know how sensitive wolves were about their mates?
"Don't follow me," I said, knowing it was Adrian now.
I turned and walked in a different direction. I had no clue where I was going, but I knew I didn't want to be around him. I shouldn't care about his wolf either.
After walking non-stop for a while, I was getting tired. This forest was huge - if someone got lost here, good luck finding them.
I couldn't even text Damia. I was starting to worry about her.
"I should never have come here," I muttered angrily.
That's when I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around and there was Adrian, wearing black jeans and no shirt.
He must've shifted back and put his clothes on.
"Why are you here?" I asked, trying not to look at his bare chest.
"Same question for you," he said, walking toward me.
I didn't know what to say. I'd just petted his wolf, and now I felt embarrassed about it.
I didn't answer and kept walking.
"You're lost, aren't you?" he asked.
"I've never met anyone as brutal as you, Adrian Miller. You posted that fake news, didn't you?" I asked without stopping.
"You haven't answered my question yet. But yeah, I posted it. Don't you want to know why?"
I stopped and turned to face him, giving him an ice-cold stare. "To humiliate me?"
He shook his head, his eyes going dark. "To show your brother what I'm capable of."
My mouth dropped open. Why would he want to prove anything to my brother? What had my brother ever done to him? They'd barely even talked the last time they met.
"I heard his word is law in your pack, which is fine, but he needs to know that not everything's going to go his way."
I had no idea what this psycho was talking about.
"Fuck off!"
I turned to go a different way. I wasn't walking in the same direction as him.
"I know all the paths here," he called out.
"What, are you a park ranger now?" I shot back without looking at him.
"Think about it. You can't get out of this forest even if you tried. Taking my help won't hurt you."
I spun around to face him. "Take your help? Not a chance in hell, pervert. I haven't forgotten what you did to me last night. You know what? Just stay away, or there won't be anyone around to witness me killing you."
My threat seemed to piss him off - he glared at me hard.
I rolled my eyes and kept walking. But something sharp caught my ankle.
"Ow!"
I lifted my leg to check my ankle. A thorn had pierced right through. I yanked it out, hissing in pain.
The moment I put my foot back down to start walking, my body was suddenly in the air.
"What the hell!"
Adrian had his arms wrapped around me, carrying me as he walked.
"Looks like I have to help the mother the same way I helped her daughter."
