Alpha's Twins Chapter 286

3 min 30.7K views

Adrian stared at Alpha Martin for a long moment.

The man looked like a broken father desperately begging for his daughter's life.

"I've already lost one child. I can't lose another."

Adrian's grip tightened on the doorknob. His heart turned to ice.

The storm of emotions in his eyes darkened as he gave a sharp nod.

"Your request is granted."

With that, Adrian walked out of the study.

Alpha Martin couldn't believe what he'd heard. Had Adrian really just agreed to stay away from his daughter?

He followed Adrian down the hall, stealing glances at the younger man. He'd heard plenty about Adrian during his time as Alpha.

Hell, his own father, Alpha Lucas, had been close friends with him. But everything changed the day someone kidnapped Natalia during their visit to this pack.

They'd searched everywhere but came up empty. After that, Adrian cut all ties with their pack.

When they reached the living room, Natalia jumped up from the couch and rushed to her father.

Adrian stopped dead in his tracks, turning to look at her.

He thought of the photo still tucked in his pocket—he hadn't returned it to her father. He'd kept it as a reminder of what he'd done to her.

"Dad, is everything okay?" Natalia asked, worry creeping into her voice.

Adrian could see the concern written all over her face. He looked away and headed for the door.

"Alpha," Natalia's mother, Jade Hansley, called after him.

Adrian turned without saying a word. Jade cleared her throat. "I've got lunch ready. We can't let you leave on an empty stomach."

Adrian's eyes found Natalia, who was shaking her head at her mother—clearly wanting him gone.

He managed a calm smile for Jade. "Thanks, but I'm not hungry."

And with that, he walked out.

He made his way to the car like a man in a daze. His driver opened the back door.

Adrian slumped into the seat, feeling completely drained.

He'd come here with his heart full of pain, but now he was leaving with wounds that would never heal.

"Where to, Alpha?" the driver asked.

Adrian blinked and turned toward the window. "Somewhere no one can find me," he muttered.

The driver looked shocked. "Alpha..."

Adrian met his eyes in the rearview mirror. "Home. Take me home."

The driver started the engine, confused about why his Alpha was returning to a place he'd avoided for years.

Through the window, Adrian watched his pack members going about their peaceful lives under his protection.

So why couldn't he find peace anywhere?

He closed his eyes and let his thoughts spiral.

*Even if I wanted to try, I could never have you. The pain I caused you can't be undone. Why did I have to fall for you when fate was always working against me? What kind of love is this that I can't even tell you about?*
