The car fell completely silent.

"I don't want to leave you here alone, Natalia," Eric said, breaking the quiet.

"Eric, I'm not a child," I assured him.

"There are so many Alphas here."

"I heard everyone's leaving at noon. Besides, you should trust me. I can take care of myself."

"I do trust you."

He got out and closed the door behind him. Walking over to my window, he leaned down and said quietly,

"Be careful. Come back to our pack soon."

I nodded. "I will."

I watched him head into the hotel to check out, then hail a cab straight to the airport.

"Boss, are you sure you'll be okay here without any security? I don't mean to overstep, but we could always come back another time. Maybe we should go back with Beta Eric today."

I settled back in my seat. "I'll be fine. And Damia, don't worry so much about it. I need some fresh air anyway."

Damia bit her lip and nodded quietly.

I turned to the driver. "Let's go."

The driver started the car and headed toward our destination.

We spent the whole day exploring the pack territory. There were several tourist spots, but the entire route ran alongside the forest.

Our main stop was the Pack Museum. Inside, I saw the history of this pack carved into stone displays.

The Storm Forest Pack was ancient. Years ago, they lived deep in the forests in their wolf forms. But as times changed, they shifted to living in human form and started clearing the forests.

"Wow," Damia whispered, staring at something ahead.

"Let's check that out, boss." She pointed to an ornate book displayed on a golden stand.

We walked over to examine it.

Damia eagerly opened the book.

"Careful," I warned as she turned the first page.

She slowed down, flipping through the pages more gently.

I saw various wolf stories throughout. One page caught my eye.

"Hold on," I said, stopping Damia.

She paused and read what had grabbed my attention.

"Black-furred Alphas are the most powerful wolves. When this pack still lived deep in the forest centuries ago, before modernization, the members feared two types of black wolves. One had blue eyes, the other red eyes. If these two ever met in battle, it would be extremely dangerous for both, as neither would accept losing their pack to the other."

Damia looked at me. "I've never seen black wolves. Boss, what color is our Alpha's wolf?"

"Gray," I replied, staring at the book.

It reminded me of those red eyes. I'd never seen his wolf form, so I had no idea what he looked like shifted.

I pushed the thought away and continued exploring the museum. I learned so much.

Damia was thrilled and went shopping for her family after we left. She stayed excited all day, which made me happy. She was like a little sister to me.

I also bought some clothes for my children. Since Damia didn't know about my twins, she kept asking who I was shopping for. I told her they were for friends' kids.

I wanted to tell her about Noah and Aria, but I couldn't reveal that Adrian was their father. It was too risky.

That evening, after dinner at a charming tourist restaurant, Damia and I headed back to the hotel.

As we drove through the forest, I turned to the window to watch the landscape rushing by.

The moon caught my attention, shining brilliantly. I tilted my head and closed my eyes, feeling the moonlight streaming through the open car window.

Suddenly, the car stopped dead in the middle of the road.

We jolted forward from the sudden halt.

"What happened?" I asked the driver.

"Miss, let me check," the driver replied, getting out.

Damia turned to me. "Boss, I should go see."

"No, stay here. I'll check."

Damia was young and an Omega. I couldn't risk putting her in danger by letting her go outside. I got out and went to the driver, who was examining the car.

He looked up at me. "I called a mechanic. He'll be here in a few minutes."

I nodded and waited. I glanced toward the forest.

The only light came from our headlights. Everything else was pitch black.

The forest was so dense that moonlight couldn't reach the ground.

"There he is," the driver said, and I looked away from the trees.

I saw a man riding up on a motorcycle with a toolbox.

I paid him upfront to work quickly, and he started repairing our car.

While he worked, my attention drifted back to the woods. Something suddenly caught my eye.

I saw something dark moving at incredible speed. I blinked, trying to see it clearer, but by the time I focused, it had already moved to the other side.

I walked back to the car and leaned toward Damia's window.

"I'll be back in a few minutes. Don't come outside, okay?"

"Boss, I want to come with you."

"No. The driver works for Alpha Sheth. He's trustworthy. I'll be right back, just wait for me."

She nodded. I turned and walked toward the forest.

I looked left and right before entering the woods, curious about what I'd seen.

I walked deeper into the forest, searching for it. But after five minutes, I couldn't spot it again.

My phone buzzed in my purse. I checked it—a message from Damia.

"Boss, where are you? The driver says we can leave now. The car's fixed."

Since Damia was waiting, I decided to head back. But when I turned around, I was completely shocked.

I'd forgotten the way back. I immediately tried to use my phone's GPS, but I saw the network connection was cutting out.

I attempted to find a path back, but my phone kept losing signal.

"Shit! I'm lost," I muttered.

I had no idea which direction would lead me back.

I started walking forward, not knowing if I was going the right way or completely wrong.

Suddenly, I heard a growl from somewhere nearby. My eyes widened. This was exactly the kind of trouble I didn't need.

But I felt compelled to move toward the sound.

My body kept moving without my permission, even though I wanted to turn and run.

I stopped dead when a scent hit me that challenged my entire sense of reason. My eyes widened in shock at what I saw.

A massive black wolf stood gazing at the moon. This area had fewer trees, so the moonlight was visible here.

My whole body nearly shook as the wolf howled. I couldn't look away—I'd never seen this wolf before. But its scent told me exactly who it was.

I stepped back when he turned his head toward me, and those intense red eyes met mine.
