Alpha's Twins Chapter 217

**Natalia's POV**

I walked through the lobby, trying to ignore all the stares. People were definitely curious about what had just gone down, which honestly didn't shock me at all.

I left the building feeling absolutely miserable. I flagged down a cab and told the driver to take me back to the coffee shop.

It was one of those gorgeous sunny days. The light streaming through the cab window warmed my hands, and I found myself staring at my fingernails.

They looked completely normal in the sunlight—clean, unbroken, no blood or scratches.

I made a fist, watching my fingers curl.

Looking out the window, I watched people hurrying down the sidewalk. Everyone looked stressed, rushing around, dealing with whatever chaos their lives had thrown at them. I wondered if they were all struggling with problems like mine.

My whole life had just been flipped upside down.

How was I supposed to handle this? How much longer could I keep working at some coffee shop, scraping together money for my brother's medical bills? How long would I have to wait for him to wake up and make everything okay again?

I slumped back in the seat and closed my eyes, pressing my hand against my chest.

*Is my heart even still beating? Why am I the one standing here when my brother's the one lying in that hospital bed?*

Why couldn't I catch a break? Why couldn't I just be happy for once in my life?

I'd spent my childhood with abusive parents, and when I finally found someone I thought I could love, he completely destroyed me. Then I found my real family and started building a life with them and my kids.

But here I was again—completely screwed with nowhere to turn. It felt like the Moon Goddess had some serious grudge against me.

Why else would she give that bastard all the power while leaving me helpless every single time our paths crossed?

"Miss?"

I opened my eyes. We'd stopped in front of the coffee shop.

"Thanks."

Looked like this was my life now. I paid the driver and got out.

Through the big windows, I could see the staff taking orders, everything running smoothly like they weren't about to get slammed with hundreds of coffee orders.

I pushed through the door, and the little bell announced my arrival.

I glanced around at our regulars—the college kids who practically lived here. I managed a weak smile even though I felt like garbage inside.

They raised their mugs and smiled back. I nodded and headed for the counter.

My stomach was in knots. How was I supposed to tell Liana that the big order got canceled? That we wouldn't be delivering to Alpha Adrian's company anymore because I was never setting foot in that place again?

I spotted Liana coming out of the back room with her phone pressed to her ear.

"Liana."

She looked over and smiled, but she was clearly focused on whoever she was talking to.

I couldn't believe what I heard next.

"No problem at all, Alpha. I'll handle everything. Thanks for keeping the order going."
