Alpha's Twins Chapter 102
My fists clenched tight when I heard him. I wanted to kill this bastard right here and now.
'How the hell does he think he can say something like that?'
Just as I was about to swing at him, someone grabbed my wrist.
"Alpha, I've been looking for you."
"Oh, come on. Not you again." I shot Patric a death glare.
Was this guy seriously watching me 24/7? How did he always manage to show up right when I was about to lose it?
"I'm your beta. It's my job to keep my Alpha out of trouble," he said quietly, then turned to Beta Eric with a completely different tone.
"Hey there, Beta Eric."
They shook hands like a couple of businessmen. I kept glaring daggers at Patric as he smoothly got rid of Eric.
"How dare you get between me and that sick freak?"
"Sick freak? Have you completely lost it? You should be thanking me for stopping you back there. You were about to kill the guy. You think he'd survive if you went full claws on him?"
I looked away and watched Eric walk over to Natalia.
"How can she even pick someone like him?"
"Then who should she pick? You?"
I shot Patric a nasty look. He'd been getting way too mouthy lately.
He just laughed at my glare.
"You're not scared of me, are you?" I asked.
"I know you'd never hurt anyone you actually care about."
"You're way too confident about that. Did you forget how I destroyed someone's life last night? You don't want to be next."
For some reason, he looked completely unbothered, which just pissed me off more. He didn't even react to my threat. Everyone else was terrified of me—everyone except him. He had this weird confidence that I'd never actually hurt him. And damn it, he was right. I'd never intentionally hurt someone I cared about.
When the party started, I planted myself at the bar with my drinks. My eyes kept wandering around the room, always landing on the same person.
Every time someone approached her, she lit up with this bright smile. Made me wonder where the hell she hid that smile when she talked to me. She always ignored me like I was her worst enemy.
I watched her chatting with Alpha Wade. He caught me staring at Natalia and smiled, giving me a little wave. I nodded back.
He said something to one of his guys, who hurried over to me.
"Alpha Adrian, Alpha Wade wants to know if you'd like to join him."
I looked over at Natalia, still standing with Alpha Wade. I got up from my barstool and walked over, wine glass in hand.
"Alpha Wade," I greeted him, then my attention shifted to the woman standing next to him.
She was absolutely gorgeous—like something out of a dream. But she wouldn't even look at me. She actually seemed like she wanted to get as far away from me as possible.
Alpha Wade stopped her from leaving.
"Natalia, sweetheart, where are you going? Aren't you going to congratulate our winner?"
His tone threw me off. Even though Alpha Wade was younger than Natalia's father, he was talking to her like a dad would. I remembered he had a daughter, so maybe Natalia had asked him to use her first name.
"Congratulations, Alpha Adrian," Natalia said without looking at me.
It was driving me crazy. Why was she avoiding eye contact? Was she doing this on purpose just to mess with me?
'Is this really about one stupid project? Women are so damn complicated. She's stolen more than four projects from me, and I never said a word. But I win one, and suddenly she's pissed?' I thought.
"Thanks, Miss Natalia," I replied, trying to get under her skin with my tone. But she didn't even react.
"Dad!"
We all turned when we heard a girl's voice. A young woman ran up to Alpha Wade and threw her arms around him in a huge hug.
"Dad, congratulations!"
Alpha Wade smiled and gently stroked her hair. "Tyra, why are you so late?"
"Sorry, Dad. I had to pick up my friends. They came with me," she said, stepping back from the hug.
"Let me introduce you to some important people. This is Natalia Hansely. She could be a great mentor for you. It's incredible what she's accomplished in business at such a young age."
Natalia smiled as Alpha Wade's daughter Tyra shook her hand.
"And this is someone you've probably heard of. This is Alpha Adrian."
Tyra turned to me and her eyes went wide.
"You!"
I had no idea why she looked so shocked. "Do I know you?" I asked.
"How can you forget me? We ran into each other today, remember?"
Then it hit me—she was the girl I'd bumped into on the street earlier.
I glanced at Natalia, who was watching me.
I smirked and said to Tyra, "Oh yeah. You're that beautiful girl."
Tyra's cheeks turned red. Wasn't that exactly what her friend had been telling her? That she was young and the most beautiful girl in her pack?
But to me, the woman standing behind her was way more captivating.
As I complimented this other girl, I noticed Natalia looked completely uninterested, like she couldn't care less.
"She's my only daughter. But she's always staying with her uncle. Seth wanted her to work with him at the pack company."
Tyra suddenly bowed to me and said in this soft voice, "I'm new to all this. I heard you'll be helping our pack from now on. I hope you'll look out for me too."
My eyebrows shot up. Had I complimented her a little too much? Why was she acting like this?
Natalia turned to Alpha Wade and murmured, "Excuse me," before walking away to the other side of the room.
Why wasn't she bothered by what I was doing?
I walked after her and grabbed her wrist. She jumped at my sudden move.
"What are you doing?"
I didn't answer. I just started pulling her along with me. I had no idea where I was going, but I needed to talk to her. This desperate feeling building up in my chest for this woman was getting too intense to ignore.
"Adrian, what's wrong?" she asked quietly, trying not to draw attention as we passed other people.
I led her through several rooms until we reached a corner that was far enough from the main hall.
I pressed her back against the wall and asked, "Why are you acting like you don't give a damn?"
