Adrian didn't slow down as he headed for the stairs.

"Amanda, come with me."

Amanda quickly fell into step behind Adrian. Her heart was racing with worry about Natalia.

What could have happened to her?

It had been so many years since she'd last seen her. When she spotted her again tonight, pure joy had flooded through her. But now she was terrified that Natalia might be seriously ill.

"Open the door," Adrian said, nodding toward the room where Natalia used to sleep.

Amanda rushed to the door and pushed it open for him.

Adrian carried Natalia inside and gently placed her on the bed.

The bedroom was spotless. A few months back, he'd instructed Amanda to have the housekeeping staff deep-clean this room. Ever since then, whenever his kids were staying with Natalia at her place, he'd come here and sleep in this room.

Being here brought back memories of her. That's why he loved staying here.

Adrian's gaze lingered on Natalia's face. She was completely soaked from the rain, water dripping from her hair and clothes.

His eyes drifted down to her light-colored outfit, which was now clinging to every curve of her body, making her undergarments clearly visible.

Instead of letting his gaze wander, he quickly turned his attention back to Amanda.

"Is she going to be okay?" Amanda asked, her voice tight with concern.

"She's burning up with fever. Get her into something dry and comfortable."

With that, Adrian walked out of the bedroom.

Amanda stared at the closed door. Adrian could have changed Natalia's clothes himself. But he'd asked her to do it instead.

Did he really respect Natalia's boundaries so much that he wouldn't even touch her without her consent?

"If only he'd shown her this kind of consideration before their divorce..." she muttered, shaking her head sadly.

She went to the closet, grabbed a towel, and started gently drying Natalia's body.

"Luna, everything's been different since you left."

Down in the living room,

Adrian paced back and forth, cigarette in hand.

Even though he was soaked to the bone from the rain, he didn't seem to notice. All his thoughts were focused on that woman upstairs.

He almost reached for his phone to call Harold, then stopped himself.

"She'll wake up soon enough."

After what felt like forever, Amanda came back downstairs. She gave him a respectful nod and said,

"Alpha, I dried her off and got her into fresh clothes."

He nodded back. His eyes went to the staircase as he crushed his cigarette in the ashtray sitting on the coffee table.

Adrian was about to head upstairs when Amanda spoke up.

"Alpha, you should really get out of those wet clothes. You're going to get sick."

"Don't worry about me."

These past few months, Adrian had started speaking more gently to her. He felt like the son she'd never had. It warmed her heart to see this young man finally treating her with kindness.

As Amanda watched Adrian climb the stairs, a small smile crossed her face.

She'd never seen Adrian show this kind of concern for anyone before. The worry in his eyes was unmistakable – he really cared about that woman.

Maybe it had even grown into love.

Amanda shook her head as she headed to her own room in the far corner of the house.

"I hope tonight changes everything and brings them back together again."
