Alpha's Twins Chapter 26
I locked eyes with Natalia, and I could tell my sudden appearance had thrown her off. Fear flickered across her face—I caught it right away.
"Mom, that man—" Aria started to say something, but Natalia cut her off quickly. "Aria, Noah, what are you two doing here?"
Noah squeezed her hand. "We missed you, Mom."
I felt like the ground had shifted under my feet. How the hell could she have kids?
This had to be some kind of mistake.
I stepped closer, staring directly at Natalia. "Are those your children?"
She immediately pulled both kids behind her, gripping their hands tight like she was protecting them from me.
I raised an eyebrow. Did she seriously think I'd hurt a couple of kids?
She cleared her throat, avoiding my eyes completely. "That's none of your damn business."
She wouldn't even look at me. Instead, she glanced over at Patric, who looked just as shocked as I felt. Then she turned and walked away.
Aria and Noah both looked back at me over their shoulders. When our eyes met, they quickly looked away and hurried after Natalia. Some guy named William followed behind them.
I just stood there, staring after them in complete disbelief. Patric clapped me on the shoulder. "There's gotta be another explanation, man. How could she possibly have kids?"
I tore my gaze away from Natalia, who had found another seat across the waiting area.
I nodded at Patric. "You're right. They're probably adopted or something."
I walked back to my seat, glancing at the empty chairs where those two kids had been sitting just minutes ago. My mind was racing, trying to figure out what their connection to Natalia could be.
Patric started talking about pack business, probably trying to distract me, but I couldn't focus on a word he was saying. I kept thinking about those kids and glancing over toward where Natalia had gone. She was sitting with them now, but my attention got caught on whoever was sitting next to her.
My hands clenched into fists, and anger shot through me like lightning.
Patric frowned. "What's wrong? Who's got you so pissed off?"
I didn't answer him. I couldn't take my eyes off that person.
It was Beta Eric.
Why was he always hanging around Natalia?
Now I remembered—Natalia had told my father she was going back to the Blue Blood Pack. I'd figured she was going with Eric. I thought she was just lying to get my attention, even though she'd admitted it to my face.
But seeing them together like this made my stomach twist.
He wasn't just with Natalia—he was with those kids too.
The way Eric was joking around with Aria and Noah, making them laugh, acting all buddy-buddy with them—it was obvious they were close.
All of this was driving me crazy. First Eric claiming Natalia was his fiancée, now these children—everything was screwing with my head.
After what felt like forever, they finally announced my flight.
I took one last look in Natalia's direction, then got up and left the waiting area.
Walking to the plane, my mind wouldn't stop racing.
The entire flight, I kept telling myself those couldn't be Natalia's kids.
When I landed, I didn't even go home. I went straight to the office to deal with whatever crisis had forced me to fly back here so suddenly.
Late that night, I went into the bathroom attached to my office. After my shower, I walked out wearing just a bathrobe. I was so caught up in my thoughts, I'd forgotten to grab clothes.
But the second I stepped out of the bathroom, I stopped dead.
Lynda was sitting on my couch with a glass of red wine in her hand.
There was a whole bottle sitting on the coffee table next to her.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked.
She jumped at the sound of my voice, then turned to look at me. Her eyes immediately dropped to my chest, and I could see her getting distracted as her gaze went hazy.
I looked down and realized she could see my abs through the open robe.
I rolled my eyes and walked over to her. "I asked you a question."
She stood up and moved closer, placing her hands on my neck. Her voice came out all soft and breathy. "You should've asked me when you got back."
I could see exactly what she was trying to do. She was always pulling this crap with me. I was about to push her away when I noticed the scar on her arm. That stopped me cold.
She wrapped her arms around me in a hug.
"You don't understand, Adrian. Natalia's been torturing me. She humiliated me in front of the entire pack. Please, you have to do something about it."
She started crying. I sighed, reminding myself that this woman wasn't evil like Natalia.
Natalia was off living it up with some other guy. God knows whose kids she was raising.
But Lynda had saved my life.
If she hadn't been there that night, I would've died. Thinking about that, I put my hand on her head.
"Don't cry. I'll figure out what to do."
Lynda pulled back from the hug and leaned her face close to mine.
She was about to kiss me when I pushed her away.
Her eyes filled with tears. "W-Why?"
I turned my back to her. "It's late. You need to leave. My driver will take you home."
She stomped her foot and stormed out of my office.
I ran my fingers through my hair, trying to calm down.
"Why am I still thinking about that woman?"
I sat down on the couch and grabbed the wine bottle. I mind-linked Patric to come to my office.
When he showed up, he saw me drinking and looked confused.
"You called me?" His tone made it clear he was puzzled by finding me like this.
I nodded and gave him his orders.
"Find out everything you can about Natalia and those twins."
