Alpha's Twins Chapter 27
The next day, I was working in my office when someone knocked on my cabin door.
"Come in."
Beta Patric walked in, but he wasn't alone—a young man followed behind him.
The guy bowed to me. "All hail to our Alpha."
I didn't respond. I was already drowning in work, and honestly, I just wanted to know why this guy was here.
I looked at Patric, who spoke up. "This is Blake. He's our spy, and he's got intel on Eric."
That got my attention. I turned to Blake.
"What did you find on him?"
Blake handed me a file and kept his head down. "Everything's in there, Alpha. We won't say a word to anyone unless you give us the green light."
"You can go."
Blake bowed again and left my office.
I glanced at Patric, who looked just as eager as I was to crack open that file and see what we had on Beta Eric.
When I opened it, I found Eric's complete background. I started reading through his personal information.
Turns out he didn't come from some big family after all. His parents died when he was young. Alpha Martin saw potential in the kid's fighting skills, so he took him in and gave him a home. From there, Eric and Martin's son became best friends. Martin was so impressed with Eric's loyalty that he made him his beta. When Martin's son Jason became Alpha, he kept Eric in the same position.
"Interesting," I muttered.
His deep connections with the royal family made him one of the most well-known pack members across all territories.
I flipped to other information. There was a quote from one of their pack elders:
"Their beta can take down a hundred wolves single-handedly."
I scoffed at that. "How many wolves did I kill in the last war?" I asked my beta.
He looked startled and walked over to peek at the file.
"Are you seriously comparing yourself to Eric?"
I shot him a look. "Why would I?"
He chuckled and shook his head.
"Don't smart-mouth me. Just answer the question."
"Over a thousand."
I couldn't help but grin at his response.
"With all these compliments her boyfriend's getting, that woman must be feeling pretty proud of herself. How pathetic."
"Someone here's looking pathetic, though," I heard Patric mutter.
I looked up from the file. "Did you say something?"
He gave me a nervous smile. "Come on, it's obvious. You're the most powerful Alpha around. Of course you've killed more wolves than any beta from any other pack."
I ignored his comment and kept flipping through the pages.
Something caught my eye, and I couldn't help but smirk.
"He's a player. Had tons of girlfriends."
"But that's all in his past."
"So what? That woman will be his past too."
Patric just stared at me without saying a word.
"What?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I can't figure out what you actually want. Seems like you don't know either."
"Stop overthinking. What about what I asked you last night? Did you find anything?"
Patric nodded. "Our guys are on it. You'll have it soon."
I stayed in my office all day. When evening rolled around, I got up and walked over to the couches.
I sat down and lit a cigarette, looking out the glass wall beside me while I smoked.
Suddenly, thoughts of Natalia started flooding back.
Based on what I'd seen, those kids couldn't be hers. Maybe she was hired as their nanny or something. How else could she have kids that big? They looked about four or five years old.
Someone opened my office door. I glanced over and saw Patric. He closed the door and walked toward me.
He looked nervous, which made me frown.
I blew out smoke, took a deep breath, and asked, "Who scared my beta?"
He swallowed hard and lowered his head.
"What?" I asked.
I didn't understand his sudden nervousness.
"Adrian," he said quietly.
"I'm listening," I replied, turning back to the window.
He looked at me with a shaky voice. "They're Natalia's children."
My fingers froze around the cigarette. I looked at him. "What did you say?"
He nodded and placed a tablet in front of me.
I grabbed the tablet and looked at the information on the screen.
The kids' birth date was five years ago!
"What the hell! How is that even possible?" I yelled at him.
He didn't answer, just kept his head down.
"Who's their father?" I asked.
I clearly remembered that when Natalia left my pack, she wasn't pregnant.
Whose kids could they be?
"I'm not sure, but most people have seen the children with Eric all the time. He even goes to parent-teacher conferences at their school."
My blood started boiling.
"Did Natalia and Eric hook up before the divorce?" I asked through gritted teeth.
Beta Patric quietly reminded me, "You were the one who wanted the divorce back then."
I clenched my fists, thinking back to when Natalia had told me she loved me.
**Flashback**
"I want a divorce."
Throughout our entire year of marriage, I felt nothing but disgust for Natalia. She always acted so innocent around me. I just hated her.
"Honey, can we please not get divorced?" Natalia asked with tears in her eyes.
I glared at her. "Why? You want to stay Luna of this pack?"
She shook her head immediately and hugged me. I tried to push her away, but her arms tightened around my waist.
"Please don't talk about divorce. I-I love you, Adrian..."
**End of Flashback**
I snapped back to the present. I didn't know what I was feeling right now, but I wanted to destroy everything.
I had such mixed emotions. I thought she loved me but left because of Lynda. But the real reason was something else entirely!
The truth was that she was carrying another man's children!
I stood up from the couch, making Patric step back.
I kicked the coffee table in rage.
"Liar!"
