Alpha's Twins Chapter 13

**Adrian's POV**

I watched her eyes go wide – she was definitely feeling the mate bond too.

I couldn't believe it. She was my mate.

She had a wolf.

That caught me completely off guard.

While I was trying to wrap my head around this, I caught the scent of strawberries. Her scent.

My mate's scent.

Confused as hell, I asked my wolf, "Is she really my mate?"

But all he did was push me to let him take control.

I shut him down and focused on Natalia, who was staring at me like she'd seen a ghost.

Was she happy she'd finally gotten to me? She had to be thrilled.

Did she come here just to get my attention?

Did she use my name to get in? Because how else would someone let her into an event this important?

My mind was racing with questions.

Even if she had used my name, I didn't really care.

What I wanted to know was where the hell she'd been. Why hadn't she come back to me until now?

I watched her take deep breaths, like she was trying to calm herself down. Her face went back to that blank expression.

Was she trying to show me she felt nothing after seeing me?

I wasn't thinking about the mate bond – I was thinking about what was going on inside this woman's head.

"I'm qualified to be here. Why are you so surprised?" Her voice was calm and steady.

Her words just hung there, mysterious, leaving me unsure what to think. Like there was some hidden meaning I wasn't getting.

I was shocked that she wasn't the scared little woman she used to be.

People usually got nervous when I talked to them. But this woman was answering me without any fear, looking me straight in the eye.

Was this really the Natalia I knew?

I didn't like her answer, so I kept pushing.

"What pack have you been with all these years?"

"Alpha Adrian, I'm not connected to the Crystal Blood Pack anymore. I hope that's enough to stop you from interrogating me," she said proudly.

It pissed me off that she called me by my title, like I was some stranger.

I glared at her. She looked away and scanned the hallway like she was looking for someone.

Who the hell was she looking for when I was standing right in front of her?

She was making me furious. How dare she ignore me? She had no right to blow me off. Where did this attitude come from?

I could see other people staring at us, looking confused.

They didn't know who Natalia was. I'd never brought her to any parties when we were married.

I ignored their stares and focused on the woman in front of me.

It looked like she'd spotted whoever she was looking for and was about to ditch me.

I was beyond angry.

I reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer. She looked startled.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

I didn't answer – just started dragging her in another direction.

"Alpha Adrian, let go of me," she said in that fake cold voice I ignored.

When she realized I wasn't listening, she grabbed my arm.

I thought she was going to say she was here for me, that we could talk things through.

But I was wrong. She spoke quietly.

"I don't want to ruin anyone's reputation here. You should let me go. People are watching us."

I snorted at that. Was she trying to blackmail me? Ruin my reputation? What damage could she possibly do?

I dragged her to a private room.

Once we were inside, I turned around and pulled her to me.

Her soft body crashed into mine.

Looking into her eyes, I was hit with a realization. After all these years, I finally understood how much I'd missed this woman.

Her scent was driving me crazy, and knowing she was my mate made it almost impossible not to mark her right then and there.

"Let me go," she said, pushing against my chest.

I stepped back, scowling and grinding my teeth as I muttered, "Let you go?"

I was getting more pissed off by the second. Even after feeling the mate bond, she was still telling me to leave her alone?

I grabbed her arms and demanded, "How can you just walk in and out of my life whenever you want?"

Natalia frowned at me. "We got divorced five years ago. Please respect me."

I couldn't help but laugh at that.

"Respect you? You seem to have forgotten how you drugged me to sleep with me."

This was the first time in five years that I'd completely lost my temper.
